I would have given it 0 stars if I could. Regarding your reply, I agree that our agreement was a binding agreement but you and your team knew that from the very first day so you could say that you can't do anything and we could find another lawyer. Instead your team assured us that they will take care of the case and waited until the last week to tell us that you can't do anything. More frustating was that I had to follow up and call your office a few times just to get a reply and an update regarding our case. Your team even got my husband's last name wrong on the application. We asked you to correct it in the agreement which you did so we can expect to get the last name right on the actual title right? Our actual title came a few weeks ago. Surprise surprise.. you got my husband's last name wrong again!

I received a call from a phishing scam saying they were from the CRA... having a land line and a cell.. while on the phone I called Rabideau Law.. and explained that I have an officer from the CRA saying I am being charged with Tax fraud... the people from Rabideau kept me on the phone and started to assist me immediately.. I think the individuals that were trying to scam me heard me speaking with Rabideau Law and my cell call with them immediately dropped... Rabideau Law still stayed on the phone and talked me through asssuring me that it was a phishing scam and that the CRA wouldn't do that in such a way.. and suggested some next steps to further protect myself.. I wasn't a client or ever have I had any business with Rabideau Law..but I was very impressed with their quick response and assisting me through what I believed was a major crisis.. A few weeks ago now my wife left a 3 star review for this law firm. The other night, she said there was a Google message that Rabideau had responded. She didn’t want to read it in case it was just as disappointing as his service. I’m the co-purchaser on this agreement and I read Rabideau’s response. My wife and I went through the ups and downs of this agreement together. We found out well after the fact it was a bad deal but we made the best of it. The interact time with Geoff over the phone was short to us (our cellphone call record shows 19 minutes.) We rushed to unpack the whole situation and our concerns as concisely as possible. Geoff promised us he had our backs. He promised he’d update us before end of day Tuesday but he didn’t call back. Fine, blame the other lawyer, but the waiting to hear back until the next morning was excruciating. When we finally talk to Geoff again September 2, his 5 minute gist was ‘consider yourselves lucky if this new deal works out and take it or prepare to get sued.’ On September 2 at 4:05 pm, my wife gets an email direct from Geoff that he now has the “fully signed and binding” offer. Hence my understandable frustration—your firm was preparing to close on the wrong offer, we told you that days earlier. And Geoff advised us to take the deal before he sent this 4:05 pm email, just three hours before our virtual signing with another lawyer who had no prior clue about anything. In my opinion, the ball was dropped on your side. For the record, we paid $1,872.56 to Rabideau Law for the service. To disappoint us even more, we were told by Rabideau to send the deed to the City Hall tax department after closing. We did via email, and City Hall called us back. They said this is the lawyers responsibility, in fact, we’re not being added to the tax roll until City Hall receives official notice from the law office. The tax department’s joke to us was, we might be trying to do the lawyer’s job but that doesn’t work with them. Finally, the other lawyer said during the Zoom call signing that it could take up to 90 days for Rabideau to send us the final package. The 90 days seems excessive. This is my factual review that warrants the star rating I’ve given.

Reflecting on our entire real estate transaction with Rabideau Law, our honest opinion is, Rabideau earned barely 2.5 out of 5 stars. If this was a simple review of Corrine Jackson’s patient-sounding attitude, the rating would go up. This can’t be the first time a client has stressed out last minute to Rabideau Law...like I did last week. Corrine seemed compassionate, while admitting she could only do so much as a law clerk. Our huge mistake as real estate clients was listening to a buying agent who didn’t represent us properly. Corinne managed to put us through to Geoff for one hasty conversation last Tuesday morning, and he advised us on possible resolutions. We were two days away from closing a potentially bad property deal, but Rabideau Law eased our minds by promising that we were “top priority.” After that, we heard nothing until we started calling Rabideau Law in a panic on Wednesday morning. We did receive one satisfactory email from Corinne, informing us that the seller was forced to get an engineer’s approval on a major structural reno in the home. But I’ve yet to mention my biggest beef with this firm: RABIDEAU LAW WAS PREPARING TO CLOSE ON THE WRONG OFFER. I’M THE CLIENT HERE, AND I’M NOT GETTING INTO A BLAME GAME about whether the law office, the mortgage broker or the lender dropped the ball. The fact is, I had to email my cc of the entire, revised offer to Rabideau, and Geoff emailed confirmation of receipt...UNDER THREE HOURS BEFORE THE DEAL WAS CLOSING. Our final conversation with Geoff later on Wednesday failed our expectations entirely. We felt that Geoff was very brusque in telling us that the new offer had holes, and we should consider ourselves lucky if this APS actually proceeded as our agent swore up and down to us that it would. I also had to remind Geoff about avenues he’d promised to explore. Although we did receive some generic feedback later from Corinne on these issues, I’m left wondering if another ball was dropped. So...we drag our feet into the virtual signing appointment with Roger last Wednesday night. Roger is an affable guy, but the appointment felt rushed. Doesn’t matter if a lawyer asks us in a cursory fashion if we have “any questions” about the signing process, we still had a TON of questions about this deal that we knew Roger couldn’t be expected to answer since we’d never met him before, and he wasn’t the lead on our file. Frankly, the thing we’ll remember most about the virtual signing appointment is Roger giving us an after-sale marketing pitch about us only having to pay so much for something or the other, and “Rabideau covering the rest of the cost.” Please give me a break. The ONLY cost we care about is a bill of nearly $2,000 for disappointing legal services from Rabideau Law. I took the weekend to really mull over my review for this law firm. I found an interesting, fairly recent article online (Bob Aaron, Jan 6 2018, "Property buyers should be aware of real estate lawyers' legal standards", thestar.com) that speaks volumes. I quote Mr. Aaron: “Busy, high-volume real estate practices regularly lead to situations where the lawyer does not take the time to communicate with clients properly. Lawyers often completely rely on clerks, resulting in the lawyer being removed from the process.” I stay abreast of tech and software, in fact, I was able to assist Corrine with the mortgage tab that I emailed back to her on Thursday morning. For some unexplained reason, the file appeared in photo format, and she didn't know how it could be fixed. I took the time to change the file extension and reformat it. Corinne was grateful! And I was happy to solve the problem. But, Mr. Rabideau, we will never think we were “top priority” clients of your firm. And, perhaps, your firm doesn't have the organizational abilities, or the sheer man-hours to deliver on that promise. You can tout high-tech virtual signings as much as you want. I can’t recommend a firm that values high-tech over good old-fashioned stuff like dedicated, patient, organized, and genuine client service.

Price was fixed at $1580 after tax which was competitive with other law firms in the area. For the signing process, the representative I was assigned to seemed unfamiliar with the homebuying process and had to leave the room several times to have colleagues clarify simple questions on filling out the paperwork properly. He was also unaware of what was included in Rabideau's fixed fee (I had to show him their website on my phone). Overall he didn't instill confidence in me as a first time home buyer. Although the deal went off without any issues and the administrative staff were friendly.
