When I was falsely accused of sexual assault my life crashed around me. Kruse Law firm tirelessly worked on my case to help me get my life back. Mike Kruse is an exceptional lawyer. He was able to coerce the lies out of the accuser during trial, this was imperative, as she had sounded so convincing when giving her narrative of the events that supposedly took place. However, upon cross examination, she buckled when Mike was relentless with his questioning and that’s exactly what was needed. The devil is in the details, and Mike is very thorough. The judge even made reference to the thoroughness by Mr. Kruse when giving his judgement statement. His entire staff, including other lawyers at the firm, and all office managers spend hundreds of hours on this case as they were all very committed to helping me get my life back. The court process is very long, and Mike Kruse doesn’t come cheap, but at the end of the day and having endured 15 months of living hell, the price of having my life back is worth so much more. The old saying ”you get what you pay for”, is certainly true here. I couldn’t be happier with the result and Kruse law firm is worth it, and as such I highly recommend them to anyone.

I had the absolute worst experience dealing with this law firm. If I could rate in the negatives I would. I can’t even begin to explain the nightmare I’ve been through with Karl and his assistant Samantha. I was hanging around people who got arrested for some fairly big charges and because I was there I got all the same charges, not only have I never had a previous charge, I’ve never even been in trouble or gotten a speeding ticket prior to this and from day one Karl was not on my side, he was not interested what so ever in finding a defence or helping dig further into the situation to understand what really happened, he is very money hungry and not reasonable or realistic in the fee’s he began asking me. I initially retained Karl Toews for $5k 2 months go by, (during covid night I add) where he did not go to court for me, did not do anything at all to benefit me. What he did do, was try to put fear into me, only give me bad news and advise me to plead guilty to lessen my sentence he had no faith in my innocence and refused to fight for me. Again after no work has been done on his part, he has the audacity to ask me for $40k to take me to a preliminary hearing to see if the crown has enough evidence to pursue the case. Said he will not book the hearing until he receives 40k and he wanted it before September 1st. I asked to set up some kind of payment plan, as I am without work, on house arrest and unable to gain employment at the moment, it was unreasonable and completely unrealistic. A day goes by and he informs me if I need him to take me to trial it will be an additional $60k on top of the $40k but not to worry because the $5k I already gave him would go into the $40k for the hearing. After doing some research and calling around to alternative lawyers I was told that a preliminary hearing is nowhere close to that amount and I was being ripped off, they advised I search for another attorney to represent me immediately. Now, Karl advises that the 5K I initially gave him would be going towards the preliminary hearing and since I wouldn’t be doing that with him, I am only to assume there is still money and I wanted it returned a long with a detailed receipt of what has been done up to date. I didn’t expect the whole 5K back but I did expect something as this lawyer did not a single thing for me. Once I got the receipt I can see very clearly he did not intend to give me a single dime back, in fact he billed me 7k up to date, while going through his charges, I can see that he charged me many many fraudulent claims, as well as every phone call, every email, any question I had there was a price tag that came along with it, he even charged me over $500 to make a phone call to a lawyer IN HIS OFFICE, Now of course this is all false claims because less than a week ago that 5K was going towards a hearing that I later found out I did not need and most likely would not be going to, as a lawyer the first thing you do is request a dismissal especially when your client is not guilty and has no previous record he failed to do his job on many occasions and it’s very clear to me that he was just after money. Now a day after the fact I have his assistant send multiple messages trying to move up the court date to take them off my case, and demanding I get a new lawyer as soon as possible. I think any sane person could agree that I’m unable to get a new lawyer that quickly considering I gave Mr. Toews every cent I had to my name and he knew that. All in all, I would say run, do not give this office any of your hard earned money because it will never be enough, they don’t physically care about you or your future. They prey on vulnerability in terrifying situations and do not care the outcome as long as the check cleared.

I had been charged with a DUI when I had my first meeting with Karl Toews in London. At the end of that first meeting Karl told me he could not promise anything until he saw all the evidence but what he expected would happen based on our conversation. Eight months later due to the pandemic and it all worked out exactly as he said it would. DUI charges were dropped. I found Karl personally to be a very warm and empathic person to speak with. Should I ever need a lawyer again then I would not think of using anyone else other than Karl. This entire firm does a great job.

Karl Toews is very ineffective and someone you should not trust to defend you. He is incapable of vigorously defending his clients as he lacks confidence, skill and knowledge. He will never have time to take your calls and constantly pushes things to his assistant Samantha. I was naive enough at first to believe that I could defend myself in a recent case of assault and uttering death threat. I thought I have read all of Erle Stanley Gardner's books on Perry Mason and have watched all episodes of the Chief Ironside that I believed the case against me was purely perjury and heresay. Kruse Law was able to point out the intricacy of the law and the weakness of my self defence. We have discussed plea bargaining and peace bonding but I believed that Homolka almost got scot free in that notorious case of Bernado. I was in trouble, Big Trouble! I was charged by the London O.P.P. with impaired and failure to provide. I was not impaired, and in my opinion treated unfairly by police. I contacted Kruse Law in London, and was put in touch with Mr. Karl Toews. In the first few minutes of our conversation, it was obvious that Mr. Toews was an expert. I did hire Mr. Toews and we went to trial. Police are like anyone else they make mistakes. Mr. Toews spotted those mistakes, and defended my rights. Our result was NOT GUILTY on both charges.
