How do you know for sure they will be "the one"? I had the misfortune of experiencing the heartbreaking moment when I arrived at Pearson Airport to pick up my husband during the covid-19 travel restrictions and having him refused to cross through immigration, when he has been commuting for work over 30 years! He was travelling from the UK and while he managed to get through there and got the "thumbs up" by the Cdn. Embassy during a call from Heathrow....he was denied here at the Toronto border. With relief I received a very swift response from Jennifer when I emailed out of the blue in desperation to see if we could get my husband to stay in Canada. Rather than a "no-can't help" or "book an appointment" she swiftly responded with good questions which carefully then explained WHY my husband had to go back and WHAT our first steps will be going forward to prevent this from happening again; it seems covid will be with us for awhile. My wife and I have been in Canada for almost nine years, and it has been a very long road towards our permanent residency. We first sought Jennifer’s help in 2016 as we were having problems with my wife’s LMIA application and were looking for help on getting back in status and being able to remain in the country. It was an uphill battle as there were many complications with our file and we were in over our heads. We first found Jennifer on google and saw that she was one of the best lawyers in town. I first sought out Jennifer’s office after I had received my invitation to apply for permanent residence, as I had hit a snag with a criminal issue that I was innocent of, but the proceedings themselves had the potential to affect my immigration file. I was very nervous about this and so my criminal lawyer referred me to Jennifer’s office. Between her referral, and reading the reviews and testimonials on her website, I decided to set up a consultation with her office. I’ll be honest – at first, I was very skeptical about hiring another lawyer, as I was worried that my file may prove too complex and I was worried about what would happen with my case. After meeting with Jennifer, I was still nervous, but she sounded confident that she could help me navigate my situation and I decided to put my trust in her. Hiring Jennifer to help me proved to be a great decision – she and her team handled my case thoroughly and with care and I’m happy to say I received my permanent residence with no further issues! They were straightforward, quick and efficient with their work, and they always replied to my emails quickly. If they weren’t sure of the answer, they would reply to me telling me they would get back to me the next day and they always did. Jennifer went above and beyond to coordinate with my other lawyer, and she was able to provide a letter that I believe changed the course of my criminal trial. I really appreciated that she took the time to coordinate with my criminal lawyer to make sure everything was in order. Many lawyers are “too busy” to go above and beyond for their clients, but I’m happy to say that was not the case with Jennifer. If I could give Jennifer’s office a rating it would be 10/10. I met my wife Jennifer when I was on a business trip in Germany. She was coordinating our meeting schedule and we ended up clicking really well. Fast forward a bit and we tried to do a spousal application on our own. We ended up getting a refusal because we didn’t provide some of the right documentation. We did a google search for lawyers to help us and found Jennifer Roggemann’s website. We called and came in for an appointment. My wife had spoken with a consultant before but we decided that with a refused application, we should have a lawyer. We should have saved ourselves a lot of headaches and frustrations by hiring her sooner. Jennifer was able to provide an outside of the box solution to the problem with a custody document for my wife’s son that was great. That’s the sort of service I was paying for. The billing was fair – good value for the dollar. The reporting was great. I’m not the type of person that needs a fancy report – an emailed letter works great for me. It was a lot of work to put in our second application. There was a lot of things that Jennifer’s office asked us to provide that was what I call ‘colour’ to the file. These documents helped to individualize our situation, which we hadn’t thought to provide the first time. We had decided to hire a law firm that immigration was all they did. We figured that if they weren’t good, they wouldn’t be in business. There are good reasons why Jennifer Roggemann’s office is the successful immigration law firm that it is - they’re good at what they do, and Immigration law 'is what they do'. They know their stuff and they even worked with us on a payment plan. Now my wife and step-son are permanent residents and we can plan our future without worrying about work permits and study permits expiring; without worrying that they will have to return to Germany. We found this law office in one of the most challenging periods of our lives. Newly married, my wife Canadian and myself American, we had drastically misunderstood the processes necessary to ensure I would be able to build a life with her in Ontario, and I was only a couple of weeks away from a potential notice of deportation. Based on the mistakes I made, I did not think I even deserved a chance to make it right and managed the (short, but painful) wait for an appointment with plans to move back to the US and restart the process. Already partially reassured by the incredibly fast and professional response of the office's staff, I went into the meeting cautiously optimistic, and to make a long story short, we immediately agreed to enter a process that just in the past couple of months culminated in securing my permanent residency. Along the way, I received expedited permissions to pursue a job in Ontario, mentoring throughout the process of acquiring required documents and testimonials, anything we could have wanted, especially and all importantly the peace of mind mentioned in other reviews here already. And I never had to be separated from my wife at any point. While expensive, the costs were well explained, and we were coached in how to keep the costs as low as possible by doing as much on our end as we could. This resulted in a sizable refund of our retainer, given to us immediately along with my notice of permanent residency. I have nothing but praise for their office and staff, and anticipate continuing to exchange Christmas greetings/gifts over many happy years here in the province.

I’ve had a long road to get to where I am today. Fleeing from my home country as a teenager in the 1980’s, going through the refugee system in Canada where I was eventually successful in becoming a protected person. I filed for my PR on my own but it was refused in 2012. A few years later, I didn’t notice that my work permit had expired and I needed to restore my status. I spoke with Guelph Immigrant Services and they referred me to Jennifer’s office. I knew that I wasn’t getting anywhere on my own. I’d fill out the form and send it off and they’d send it back because something was missing. I’d fix that and then it would come back with something else. I realized that I needed help. I went for a consultation with Jennifer and decided to hire her, as I only had a short time to restore my status. I’m glad I hired them – even though it ended up being a lot of money over the years. I kept getting into trouble, but they were able to rescue me. Finally, I applied for PR again with their help; and today, I became a permanent resident. DO NOT GO HERE ! Jennifer was unprepared and she has literally no idea about Post Graduate Work Permit. I studied for a 2 years course but still ended up with a 1 year work permit. When I approached her for help, she disappointed and discouraged me. She was slamming forms and transcript on my face (literally) and told me that i can never get a 3 years work permit. She also charged me with 340$ for 1 hour consultancy (most places offer this for free) and yet she did not give any guidance on how to reapply and get the work permit. Later, I applied from a different immigration consultancy . (They gave a 100% guarantee right from the time I reapplied, and guess what? I got my 3 years work permit). I did read a mix review about this lady but still ended up going there. DO NOT make the mistake which I made. PS: Learn to be more professional, you are a lawyer and not a vulture. Stop exploiting people.

Secondly, I finally got a consultation weeks later, in which their US immigration lawyer gave me info which ended up costing me $1500 at a secondary lawyer and it didn't even get me what I needed. Was constantly rolling her eyes on us and made us uncomfortable to ask more questions. Very pushy towards starting a case with her. When we said that we are done, she left room without saying goodbye or shaking our hands, still talking with her back to us. She might be knowlegeble but acted very rude, annoyed and did not gain our trust. Would not recommend for a consultation and would not trust to lead our case.

I came to Jennifer’s office very nervous about my status in Canada. I had gone to school here and finished my degree. I’d made a very simple mistake of not signing my application for my Post Graduate Work Permit before I sent it in. Also, my study permit expired at that moment. I was in a time crunch to be able to start my career here in Canada. I had met with someone else whose information just didn’t seem right to me and so I decided to look online and found Jennifer. I asked a family friend who works in the industry what they thought of Jennifer and she highly recommended her. I’m glad that I followed her advice to come and have a consultation with Jennifer. Jennifer is very sharp and knows what she’s doing. I felt comfortable with her and the proposal she outlined made sense. For the first time, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel and knew that there were options for me. This was my first real experience with a lawyer and I’ve heard others who had a bad experience with a lawyer but I would hire Jennifer again. She and her team are friendly and welcoming and yet very professional. They made me feel relaxed and comfortable and I trusted them. When it was time for me to apply for my permanent residency under the Canadian Experience Class, they were well prepared and gave me a list of what I needed to do. They were always responsive when I asked them a question and I felt like they outlined the options for me and informed me but the decision and control always rested with me. I felt empowered that I was making good decisions for my future based on solid advice. Throughout the process, they were on top of my file and making sure that I was kept in the loop. My work permit was expiring in a few months and Jennifer made sure to have a meeting with me to discuss my options and plan out what we needed to do so I could keep working while we waited for the paperwork. Thankfully, none of that was needed because I received my permanent residency before my status was expired. Would I recommend Jennifer and her team to others? I already have. I definitely got the service I expected. Yes, lawyers cost money, but they saved me time and I didn’t have to worry all the time. I received timely email updates from the staff and answers to my questions were prompt and well informed. I appreciated that I got a personally signed Christmas card from everyone I had worked with in the office. It meant a lot to me that they took the time to write a personal note in a busy time of year. I am a criminal lawyer. A client recently faced potential removal from Canada without right of an appeal if convicted of the offence with which she was charged and sentenced to the term of imprisonment the Crown was advocating. Ms Roggemann generously wrote a letter explaining these unforeseen immigration consequences. The Crown Attorney is now considering accepting a plea to a lesser and included charge, and a sentence less than what they were originally seeking. The consequences to my client are huge. I would definitely recommend JR Law to anyone seeking immigration assistance. We first met Jennifer in November 2011, and she and her team proceeded over the last 2 years to help my husband achieve permanent residency status thru in-land spousal sponsorship. I know that many people attempt to do this process on their own, but after being thru it, I would never recommend that. Laws are always changing, and it was such piece of mind to know that we were getting the most current information, and that everything was being done correctly. We definitely hit some bumps in the road... immigration lost part of our file, which needed to be redone, and then they were on strike, slowing everything down. JR Law supported us during the entire extra, unexpected time. Again, these things happen and we were happy to have legal support throughout. The team at JR law was always friendly, organized, supportive, and very fair and honest. We will definitely be seeing them again moving forward with any immigration issues in the future!

In the end you get a ridiculous suggestion where you need to pay more money for a really bad service.If you are in trouble , this is not the place.Go for any other lawyer but not this one. When I went to other lawyer my problem was solved easily with no extra fees where she was asking for a lot of money for no reason. So if u dont want to waste 300 dollars and get in more trouble , dont go here.

I met my wife online and I wanted her to come and visit me in Canada. I didn’t realize how difficult that was for someone from China and so I did that on my own. Knowing what I know now, I would have come to Jennifer and her team earlier. I travelled to visit Jie in China and eventually we fell in love and got married. We wanted her to join me here in Canada. A Canadian-American couple, we have been married for a long time and had been living in the United States. We are both college professors, and have struggled for years with balancing our two careers. When Martin got a job offer “back home” in Canada, we decided it was time to start a new chapter and made arrangements to begin immigrating. Worst experience of my life! Not only did she take an absurd amount of money for the consultation, me and my husband left in tears. Never felt so discouraged in my life and like this was about to be a huge mistake! She wanted around $8000-$10000 in fees was the estimate and my jaw hit the floor! We quickly called every other office around for a second opinion as I left her office in a panick attack. Spoke with people at W.W immigration and within minuets they eased my mind! This was the best decision of my life, they calmed me down and dealt with our immigration in no time. Now it’s been 10 months later my husband is working and there was no stress. Would never recommend walking into Mrs. Roggemanns office it was a traumatic experience for us.

She will take you for all you're worth! I made the decision to have this law office help me submit a permanent residency application for my new husband. She wasted many hours over the period of 6 months gathering information for this application. She charged me $10,000 for this! The things she was asking for were ridiculous... like 50 photos of us with friends names written on the back of each... receipts from groceries and restaurants... on and on. I finally looked up the application on the government website and GOT IT DONE IN A FEW HOURS. She made it seem so much more difficult so she could charge her time. I fought her tooth and nail and she agreed to give me $2,000 back. $8,000 and 6 months later I was no closer to having the application filed and that is time and money that I can not get back. I wish her nothing but the worst for the hardships she has caused my family. She took advantage of us in the worst way.

I met my husband while I was working in Peru for a German travel company. We fell in love and got married. We honeymooned in Europe and determined that our future was going to be back in Germany, where I had been living for years. A few month after we got married, Manolo had a serious stroke – very rare for his age. Nursing him to health again was not what I expected for our first year of marriage but it only bonded us stronger together. Once he was able to travel, we lived in Germany for several years together while I worked and Manolo recovered his health and adjusted to a very different culture. Eventually we knew the time had come to return to my home country of Canada. We knew that we couldn’t do this process on our own, as we’d had a few visitor visa refusals in the past. I found Jennifer while I was on a visit to Canada and my lawyer recommended her to me. We got an appointment via Skype quickly once I was back in Germany. We decided to hire Jennifer because I had a high stress job and a nervous husband. I wanted to get rid of paperwork and stress. We were moving back to the Kitchener area and so we wanted to stay local with our law firm. Neither Manolo nor I had a clue of the process to come to Canada. I was born here and so didn’t ever know the rules of immigration. We chose Jennifer because everyone there is friendly and efficient. We both liked that Jennifer is an immigrant herself and most of the office has English as their second language. Whenever you want to understand a system, I’ve learned to ask the foreigner, not the native. They know how to navigate the system. I could have done this on my own but the nerves, time etc didn’t make it a good choice. We knew we had to get this time right and so we trusted our lawyer. Very unhappy, feeling very ripped off... felt more like an interrogation than help. I found a wonderful lawyer from Toronto who was 30% of the cost and gave me a pretty accurate estimate before retainer (For Free!!!!). One document visit, signed sealed delivered! Paid a ridiculous fee for a consultation that delivered no new information for which you can get for free from the immigration website. Do not give them any financial info prior to obtaining an retainer agreement. Wow, was such an idiot. Wasted so much time, energy and money gathering information/documents and interviews that are absolutely not needed for the process.... I gather they were trying to justify they're exorbitant fee. Interviews asking repeatedly personal questions that have no bearing on filling out the documents. Thanks for nothing!
