Michael Kay- my experience. 2 months to do a simple private one year mortgage, only $320k, everyone else takes 2 weeks. Then the trust company told me at 5 weeks in Michael Kay never sent appraisal to them. I had to do Michael Kay's job for him and send it in. Then after that and another 3 weeks later they finished and charged me $5800! Yes $5800 for a simple one year mortgage, the going rate is $1600 across Canada for this. Even the trust company managing the mortgage told me they had never heard of such a rate, ever. And they do hundreds of these mortgages. I took it to the law society, they felt arbitration was reasonable, but Mr Kay cowardly refused arbitration and now this is going to court. Mr Kay fearing loosing a lawsuit brought by me then threatened my home and business and this can be verified with the Law Society on Michael Kay's professional complaints history. Michael Kay was the lawyer from Pitblado. So I waited 4X longer and paid 4X as much for incompetent service. Michael Kay is actually a partner at Pitblado.

Over the past 15 years I have at times fallen victim to unsavoury lawyers, in fact I have had more than my fair share of disappointing experiences. Most recently a lawyer involved in a very public and important case of mine was even disbarred in early 2014. Because of that my open legal file was transitioned to the firm Pitblado Law. Looking out for their clients definitely isn't their first priority. All they care about is how much money they can gouge from a person no matter their income. With my case they jumped right in head first and made me do all this stuff that wasn't necessary then charged thousands of dollars for it. They never solved anything for me just wasted my time and money. Horrible experience, would never recommend them.
