David Brown is way too busy and doesn't have the support or resources to respond to questions in a timely fashion. He is often unresponsive and when he finally gets around to responding to you, his advice is half baked. Fails to ask the right questions and isn't able to adequately understand complex employment situations. Super expensive, poor value and average at best. There are good lawyers out there who can do a better job for less than $400.00/hour.

Probably the worst employment law firm in Kelowna. Overcharged me, poor value for money and too busy to respond in a timely fashion. There are better employment law firms out there than this one. David Brown, nice guy but devoid of any legal strategy.

My introduction to Kent Employment Law and subsequently David Brown began back in Sept 2018. I was seeking clarity on my employment contract and rights as a manager not protected by a union. This is the first time I've sought legal advice pertaining to an employment issue, but I’m glad I did. The consultation was via phone as I live in Northern BC. I had emailed my pertinent info the day before and any questions I had. Given the fact I didn't give David much time to review the information, he was prepared with the answers I was seeking and more. Fast forward to Jan 2019, my concerns at work were realized and I was let go. David had advised me during my consultation what severance I was entitled to. What the company actually paid me was not adequate, I was entitled to much more. David agreed to fight for me. During the entire process, I was always kept up to date with any changes either by email or phone by David himself. Of note, I had spoken with another (heavily advertised) law firm that guarantees they will get you more than what your employer is offering and was told the severance my employer paid me was adequate and in line with Employment Standards. Yes, Kent charges for their consultations. And it's worth every penny. From the first phone call, David has been professional, well versed in his field, personable, forthright and honest with his opinion. Going forward, should I be presented with an employment contract I will be sending it to David before signing anything to ensure it is fair for me and protects me in future. Had I have done that at the beginning of my employment, it would have solved a lot of issues after being let go. In closing, I cannot recommend David Brown and Kent Employment Law enough. He worked hard and got me a very decent severance package against a company known for treating employees poorly. Anyone concerned with employment contracts and employee rights should make the call to David Brown. You won’t regret it.
