May 26, 2018 Attention Kristin: I would like to say thank you for responding to my email. It makes me feel much better that you have been up front and truthful with me regarding the busyness of your schedule. I will be truthful with you as well, in the past 5 days I have started searching for other legal counsel regarding my case because of the massive void of communication between myself and the firm you’re representing. Many things have really frustrated me, and have only made this whole situation worse because of the lack of professionalism I see. I shouldn’t have had a lawyer take the case knowing she was leaving for maternity leave in the near future or at the very least inform me of that situation. I especially became angry with FH&P when I paid money to fly out, rent a car, rent a hotel room and fly back to Calgary in a matter of two days with a lawyer that I obviously didn’t know was pregnant. I still wasn’t advised I would be changing my legal council. That whole meeting was a waste of my time and money! The original meeting should have been with the lawyer that would be handling my case. Everything I discussed with Erin was not vocalized to anyone. Now I’m starting off fresh with you, which means I’ll be charged for an initial visit again to discuss my situation and action plan. I found it very infuriating that you had not even taken time to review my case before our first discussion. Now, I would like to discuss Christine Copeman. I do not like dealing with her. I am aware you do have other clients and appointments, I do not expect you to be able to contact me all the time, but I assume Christine should be able to at least answer a phone call or respond to an email somewhat promptly. I have to constantly repeat information with her which I have vocalized before. On May 7th I tried to arrange a meeting, for the 17th to the 22nd through an email. You sent a response which was voicing your views and opinions but there was nothing about booking an appointment except for doing a voice call. On the 9th we communicated, then on the 10th I called the firm and left a voicemail with Christine. I never received follow up confirmation. On the 15th, just two days before I was available, I get a ridiculous email asking me when I’m in town to arrange an appointment. First off, I have voiced it many times, I’m not just in town! I will only fly in around an arranged appointment. Secondly, on the 7th I gave her dates that I was available and this is 5 days after I called her and 8 days after sending an email. I responded as soon as I could on the 15th .Now as it was too close to the dates provided I supplied her with new dates I that was available. Then 10 days went by before I received your email, which by that time I started searching for other legal representation. I’m now booked for school from May 30 -June 5. These were the dates I was originally available to meet with you, but because of poor communication on your part it is no longer possible. Over this time period the roof of the condo was painted which I wasn’t on board with. I voiced my concerns . X made a cost decision that was not discussed with me and now the condo has been conditionally sold to a qualifying offer at list price. I do understand you have to outline the risks to me, and I hope you still will. I hope you will agree to defend me if I’m willing to take any risks I see fit. I don’t need a “pound the table approach” but I do want a lawyer that I feel is defending me and working in my best interest. I view it very clear cut and still to this day don’t believe Miss X is deserving of any money. I'm willing to go to court and drain my bank account defending this. I will be happy retaining your services if you are able to provide me with everything I have expressed plus taking Christine Copeman away from my case as I view her as very incompetent as a legal assistant. Sincerely You will be writing a letter like this if you hire this firm. Stay away.

We had a dreadful experience with this firm. We used their family law division who only seemed interested in payment and were not well versed in nuances or inter provincial communication. During the initial consultation a large lump sum retainer was mandated. Should have been a warning sign. After remitting we did not hear back. The proceedings, explained as a simple matter initially, took months and came at a huge cost, financially and otherwise. No follow up accounting detail to explain how the retainer was used! No review of options or suggestions on your proceedings more of a wait and see what happens approach. Repeated requests for breakdown of charges were not forthcoming. Family law is such that the parties must have a moral obligation to do what's right and best for their clients. Sadly our experience with FHP did not reflect this.

The receptionist is a very rude condescending lady, she had no time to talk when I called and cut me off mid sentence twice. She also cut me off and put me of hold and then when transferring my call she just hung up without saying bye. Seems like she is busy or just cant handle the duties of her employment without being rude. I would suggest not even calling due to this.
