I had the pleasure of meeting the team just after the Sorensen Smith LLP office opened in Chilliwack. All the stereotypical fears of dealing with lawyers (intimidation, stress, and aggression) were instantly abated. Everyone involved on both sides of my case was treated with patience, care and respect by Lawrence and his team. I have referred several of my friends to go call on Sorensen Smith for their easy-going style and consistent success.

My experience ran the gambit of emotions in terms of how I'd "Rate" this firm. It was my first experience seeking legal counsel so perhaps my expectations of the process were too varied from the reality of what I received in terms of a balanced perspective of what legal counsel entails or should be. I expected a certain level of execution for the price point and it just wasn't there. I had to wait like eight days for a demand letter, the letter's drafting kept getting pushed back and I had to call in after not receiving the draft when it had been asserted that it would be given to me. In addition to the letter being behind the scheduled time, the letter was not at all drafted in a manner consistent with the strategy that we agreed with. The lost time in the drafting of the letter changed the context of the letter significantly and as such came across in a manner that compromised the way my actions could be perceived as it pertained to the matter I was seeking help for. The last straw was running billing time past my retainer without notifying me first, after I had asked where my account was sitting. To be fair, I think I may have just been a tough client to deal with, I'm hoping this is a "the one guy that wasn't happy" scenario because the individuals that work at the firm are wonderful human beings. That being said, I was very underwhelmed at the value received for the investment, and incredibly skeptical about pre-court execution competencies. I would be ashamed to treat any of my freelance clients the way I was treated.

My wife and I hired this firm as it specialized in the BC Human Rights code and the BC Strata Property Act. Throughout Daniel Sorensen participated very little. Indeed, I did most the preparation. He was hired to represent my wife and me, but he failed to do so ... he said very little at the Human Rights Code mediation meeting. As a result, we only broke even in financial costs. If you want an assertive/aggressive lawyer, Daniel Sorensen is not him. If you can, I would strongly recommend that you go elsewhere for representation. One positive thing for that firm I guess is they sent out their bills regularly.

Daniel and his team provided excellent service and representation (just as expected and described on their website). In particular: all contact between counsel and the client (my father) was clear, quick, and well organized. Where they lose a star is in the timing it took to deliver the MOU. Problem with that though, is I had a part in making the timeline longer. So if I could give them 4.5 stars I would.
