This is our second real estate transaction with the team at Whittal + Co and we simply wouldn't go anywhere else. Dan's team took care of everything we needed on the legal side of things and we just needed to show up and sign. Working with Whittal + Co for real estate also gave us access to the MoveSnap app which helped us organize address changes and transfer our utilities from one house to the next. While I hope we don't have to move again for a while, we highly recommend Whittal + Co for all your legal needs!

Not deserving of any star. They charged us $7,000 and $4,400 plus disbursement respective for a Toronto condo purchase and an Ottawa house purchase. We have purchased a few properties over the years and have an idea of the cost which would be around $1,500 to $2,000. We were shocked at the amount, in addition, the work was sloppily done, the property manager of the condo in Toronto told us she had never had such an experience with incompetency in her 40 years working there. We are seriously consider taking him to small claim court right now. We are certain the lawyer thought he can get away with it because he thought "Why not ?, they can afford to pay it." We are certain that if one is to go through their past clients, the rate they charge would be no where close to what they charged us. By the way, we checked with law firms in Toronto, Ottawa, London and their rates for these transactions at the highest quote given, $2,400. Lowest, $1125. STAY AWAY please.

Whittal + Company Law Firm was hired to complete POA forms for my elderly father (currently have Service Ontario ones - but required lawyer based ones to change his broker at his request). They were very understanding and accommodating towards my father and myself at the beginning. They did a zoom meeting and made drafts that I was able to review and discuss with my father (poor short memory and not computer savvy). After a private meeting with my father prior to signing drafts (many days after initial online meeting) they came to the conclusion we were “cajoling, if not forcing, your father into preparing documents against his will and I would testify to such in Court. I advise you to ensure that your actions in the future reflect his wishes and not your own.” My father attempted to call multiple times to rectify this as he was outraged. They waited weeks before calling him back and maintained the belief that we did not have my fathers best interests at heart. We had the support of his family physician (40+ years) willing to discuss with the firm how he views us and how we have always had our father as a priority. They again, wouldn’t call us back. I completely agree and understand that elder abuse in the financial aspect is a grave concern. Had they made a generic comment about concern for his short term memory being a concern, we would have fully understood and had a cognitive test completed. Or got whatever paperwork they required done. The inappropriate and unprofessional comments of us “cajoling, if not forcing, your father into preparing documents against his will and I would testify to such in Court. I advise you to ensure that your actions in the future reflect his wishes and not your own” along with threats of extra charges were unacceptable and inappropriate. They also took a comment of “I warned of his short term memory issues. I warned if you fluster him he will get a bit irritable.” As a threat to staff. This was a shock as we had many pleasant conversations on the phone regarding his issues. These issues were warned as a courtesy and a ‘heads up’ so they weren’t offended/took it personally if he became irritated. Sadly, this is a common issue with elderly. I attempted to call them myself to discuss and rectify any concerns they had, but they refused to call us back or return emails. We have now filed a complaint with the board. Currently under investigation. Will update when investigation is concluded. ********update********* Called Owner and left a message on the Wednesday, as requested by their response to google review (posted Monday night), still no response.
