Horrible experience. Arrogant lawyer and receptionist try to tell you what you need (additional paid services from them) before hearing what you want. We felt rushed and pressured into agreeing to services, which it turned out were not needed. They didn't know the law. I'm glad we stood our ground rather then letting them fleece us.

The reception did the translation for us, and suggested that "it is the best" for both me and my partner if I get only 1% of the capital gain and my partner get 99% (without even trying to explain the reason behind it)(my partner asked a general question about given our entire situation, what do you suggest but she gave us a suggestion based on only 1 concern, which is really wired), while forget the fact that I pay 50% of the mortgage. Later, when I was shocked and asked the reason why, she elaborated and said it would save me money for non-residential tax in the future. Yes, moving out in another few years is one of my concern, but having a fair share is also my concern as well. This is like when you visit a doctor complaining "pain in eye" and the doctor suggests you to remove your entire eyeball, which is very very coarse work. When I asked specifically how many percentage i could save for non-residential tax, she kindly asks to go to an accountant. If you don't do the calculation, how could you know it is beneficial for me to do 1% ownership? Because I am also losing the tax saving opportunity for the first time home buyer in BC for that 1% of ownership. If not for the time urgency, if not for they copied our ID already prior to the meeting, I would just walk out of their office immediately. The lawyer keeps asking what is our "primary concern". Yes, the non-residential tax is one of our concerns that we brought up, but there are many other concerns as well. When you make a professional suggestion, shouldn't it be a balance of many factors not just for one single concern? This is a very shocking, upsetting experience. I should have recorded what they say in the meeting, but when I walked into their office, and saw their two dogs, I thought I should get a warm greeting. Another small thing, as a co-applicant, I was required to sit at the very back on the table. This is really a small thing if she didn't do the falsified translation for us. I guess she thought I don't have the ability to understand English. Even if she didn't try to trick me, it is very shocking bad intention as well, because I was about to say "yes" because the lawyer and the reception keeps asking me "I have seen so many cases, I don't understand why you don't do my suggestion" and pushing me to make that decision. If it was the fact that i was so angry, and bring it up, they would pushing me to make a bad decision for myself (not for my partner, though). In the question that they gave us, we answered clearly that 50-50 division is only for the capital increase not for the down payment part, which is brought up by my partner not me. Therefore, I felt like a fool and almost being tricked to do something stupid.

I hired Logos Law to take care of the conveyance of my apartment sold with a mortgage on it, not only they were super efficient and kept a high level professionalism, but also the communication and the time elapsed were nothing short of perfect. Even the small details were taken care of. That also goes without saying that they have a very competitive price for an all-inclusive package. We approached Logos to help with clarifying a few points on a contract. Despite having sent over copies and details days before, lawyer told us she read nothing and asked us to explain everything from scratch. The lawyer did point out a few points of risk we were not aware of previously. But when asked if there were any ways to mitigate the risks, the lawyer was of no use. She came across as arrogant and unwilling to propose options. I took my business to another law firm and received a drastically different experience. Very glad to have found the other firm and not dealing with Logos.
