I recently purchased a BC home (from out of province) and worked with Brian P. Stephenson (Pushor Mitchell LLP). Brian was the best! Always available from the outset re: pre-approval etc. There were a lot of calls and emails. After contacting & connecting the bank, developer, and real estate representative (seller's agent), Brian took over and managed these details (& cc'd me as needed). He provided quick, courteous and informed feedback, and he was especially forthcoming in response to "what if" scenarios. This made the whole process easier and relieved my anxieties. He also advised me on BC tax rebates and residency requirements in addition to the regular details of purchasing a home. Near closing time, a very unexpected mortgage issue came up. But again he advised me how to proceed, and the transaction closed on time without issue. That is, he was available exactly when I needed him. I would hire Brian again AND I would recommend him to my friends and family.

Incompetent and useless are just a couple of the words to describe this firm! Do not hire them! Lawyers are wishy-washy push-overs with no backbone. Did not do their job. Would send letters to "vett" before sending on our behalf, so basically we were doing their job, including fixing spelling and grammatical mistakes. Took forever to get them to do anything. The only thing they were quick to do was send the bill! Run, don't walk away from this firm! If you're looking for a firm to fight tirelessly on your behalf, this is not it! What a joke!

Re: Patrick Gaffney. Rudely dismissed my personal history and literally rambled off divorce law 101 from about 5 pages of point form printed notes he had in front of him. Half of it I knew from Google searches, about 20% was irrelevant to my situation, and the remaining, roughly, 30% was nothing I couldn't have Googled. At the end of my pricey $390 hour and a half, he said, "That's it. Any really fast questions?" as he readied to leave the room. At the very least, I expected him to slide the useless photocopied point form notes my way to take home. Nope, he slid a few business cards at me, told me it would be $3500 to retain him (ha, as if!), and said, for the umpteenth time, "Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching," with a creepy chuckle.
