I responded that they don't handle cases *at all*, THEY'RE NOT ATTORNEYS. I'm not going to name that other business, but flummery from the first phone call is a big red flag--so be careful about whom you choose as your legal consultant and do your due diligence. Our findings: Goldman and Associates are the real deal.

Ian was nice and somewhat helpful. However, I asked for advice and a PR application to be checked over. At 400 dollars an hour simple mistakes are unacceptable. He confidently gave me incorrect advice. Furthermore, he missed mistakes that were obvious to an expert (a friend of a friend used to process immigration documents and laughed when hearing the mistakes). The consequences of Ian's small mistakes were large for me, and I cannot recommend him. His assistant reached out immediately to me and requested a positive google review. I think Ian hustles hard to try to get good reviews online. I wrote a positive one before his mistakes had backfired. He did agree to help me for free after his mistake, but I found him not very helpful. The Facebook group "Canada Spousal Sponsorship Support Group" had better answers to my Questions and is free.

I am not happy to pay for his time when the call back I got was only interested in collecting Mr. Goldman’s fee and was not at all concerned with me, my case, or anything other than bringing in that fee. As someone who has done a lot of sales, it works better when you try to engage your clients. Do your research before wasting money here pls!. I reached out to Goldman regarding a visitor visa extension, Ian Goldman specifically and let me tell you, you certainly Don’t get what you pay for, I paid for the consultation over the phone and Ian was a great help at first but I’m guessing it’s only to rope you into actually using their services and for an obscene amount of money. Once I agreed to and payed for the services I then had his underdog lackey to deal with which knows absolutely nothing about immigration, all this guy was good for was delaying the questions I needed answered by relaying them to Ian and then getting back to me once he had the answer from Him, I had to deal with him through the whole process. Once everything was said and done the application was approved however I went on to find out later that I could get the same services for 1/5 of the cost of Goldman’s done from someone who actually knows what their doing and will take your calls and help guide you through the process as a posed to letting a novice deal with you. I called them out on the price difference as I felt like I was getting screwed, then of course who contacts me directly, of course Ian Goldman, so he didn’t care to get back to me on any questions I had while going through the process but once I had complained about the price instantly within minutes he contacts me directly, like wow. I went on to use someone else’s services for another extension and it cost me only 500$, Goldman’s is 5 times that or more, I’m sure you can do the math, please note I waited to do this review after I knew the outcome of the second extension I applied for to see if results differed but they didn’t. moral Of the story is DO YOUR RESEARCH, there’s just too much greed in this world, good luck

Immigrating can be a hard process, but worth it. Ian Goldman has, and continues to help our whole family with our immigration from the UK to Canada. His services are highly personalized, he makes the effort to get to know you and know your specific needs and difficulties which is a significant distinction from many of the 'corporate' style services where you are just a number and boxes need to be ticked. He is easy to contact and provided us with regular updates via FaceTime/Skype, work is done promptly, and starting the process you know exactly what is involved, where your weaknesses and strengths lie tied in with a realistic and honest appraisal of whether your application will be a success or not. Having gone through the process, there are so many things that can go wrong which can reject an application. Another thing, which was relevant for me was that immigration categories can and do change often. For me, since the year of my application, I would not have been eligible. If I had done that application myself and I had done something wrong I would still be stuck in the UK. I would urge you to do your research on who is representing you - there are so many companies out there and so many shoddy 'cowboy' services. We initially started with another large anonymous corporate company and it was a disaster - then we were fortunate to meet Ian and his company Goldman Associates at an immigration fair in London. I would recommend using an immigration lawyer as it is a relatively small investment at securing a new life by making sure everything is done correctly, and importantly that problems can be addressed swiftly by your lawyer! I am looking to emigrate to Canada as a PR, as a common law spouse, though I had previously also been considering the express entry route. Ian Goldman contacted me quite speedily after I booked an initial consultation, and we were able to arrange a 1hour phone consultation rather promptly (incidentally he offers clients multiple options for how they wish to be contacted). I found his consultation rates to be very fairly priced compared to other reputable law firms, and I found his willingness to initiate and arrange contact to be an added bonus. Other law firms I have found require clients to place the calls themselves and don't offer as many options for communication. Given the range of prices for even initial phone consultations, I also found the consultation rate to be very attractive priced - an important factor when paid consultation rates may make it a barrier just to shop around for a lawyer. Ian was exactly on time with his call, and was very easy to understand, helping to clarify my case and possible options for me. I found his manner to be professional and approachable, which helped put me at ease (I normally hate talking on the phone). In the end, my case presented a couple of options and Ian helped me weigh them up. Objectively neither offered a clear advantage, but Ian was able to elicit what factors were most important to me and he was able to recommend which option he felt would best suit my subjective needs. I was also given a quote, which has proven accurate to their website that they charge around mid-market rates, though I have yet to find a more competitive rate in Vancouver itself for a lawyer of similar experience. While I have found lower rates outside of Vancouver, it appears as if the files at those firms would be handled either by junior or teams of more junior lawyers. However, Ian indicated that he would personally handle my case, and so I believe the rate he quoted me was reasonable, given his experience and good standing (I did also do my due diligence to look Ian up beforehand in law registries). At the end of the call, there was no pressure to open a file, merely an invitation to write or call back with more questions if needed. I did in the end have multiple questions I emailed as a follow up, and Ian answered promptly and at no extra charge. I am now a lot more sure about my immigration plans, and being able to get Ian's advice and either corroborate or clarify my own research really helped make the daunting process much less intimidating.
