First and foremost: yes, it is cheaper than a standard real-estate lawyer; about half the price all said and done (and that was using a lawyer who was the cheapest option of any comparable ones in the area) for buying a new house and selling ours as well. They are accommodating when it comes to meeting in any location of your choosing. Now with that savings comes a lot of compromise: 1) Communication. This was the biggest issue; trying to get hold of anyone especially when there are issues is problematic. You're not going to get them same day and sometimes it was 2 days later or more but you will hear back from them. 2) Complexity/Accuracy. You have to know your stuff and do your own calculations beforehand; they will take the bank at their word even when the bank tries to screw you over (which they will). I had to find the issues and send the appropriate information to get things fixed. Even when you send them the right information, they will still just use the information that the bank erroneously provided; nullifying all your efforts. 3) Random fees/disbursements. There's a lot that isn't covered. Title insurance makes sense, but the copious administration fees do add up; however not to the extent of going to another lawyer. All in all, I would use them again but now I know what to expect, and what I will have to do myself. Use tempered expectations.

I have quotes with break down of fees from other 4 Law firms that started out cheap $799(base) and then added + $180(courier/disbursements) +$171(software use charge). Please do not bring your hard earned money to this firm. My closing was scheduled for the 1st of December which came and went with absolutely no communication from the law clerk, Tea Babic. I had to get my broker to get details from the lender, who confirmed that mortgage instructions were sent not only once, but twice and with no response from them. Only when I used my mama bear voice with them did the instructions magically appear in someone’s inbox. Do I really need to call daily and ask for a manager just to close on time when there were absolutely no unforeseen circumstances which would hinder closing? Apparently, yes. Do yourself a favour and find a firm with the following criteria: 1) they know how to open emails from lenders 2) they respond to emails from their clients 3) they close your deal on time 4) they close your deal at all Not a hard list to follow as a real estate firm, but these people can’t complete the criteria. Here we are, December 6th, and my refinancing IS STILL NOT CLOSED! My lender has changed closing twice in order to accommodate these clowns, with all paperwork signed on our end, and many unanswered emails in the law clerk’s inbox. If someone is offering you a $100 dollar discount to leave a Google review, there is a reason why, and unfortunately, I now understand the reason it’s needed from this “firm”.

Overall great value for the price. The review of my Purchase Agreement was completed very efficiently and accurately. I was a bit disappointed in the communication around closing process as I would have liked to receive an overview of the process rather than having to chase for information last minute but it was still completed on time. I went with this firm initially because they offered the free mobile signing service but now at the time of closing they indicated that they now charge for this depending on location and it can be quite expensive to sign in person. Otherwise they were very professional and responsive and I would recommend their legal services.

By far the worst group of lawyers I've ever dealt with. Our family was arranging a second mortgage on our property to do renovations. This law firm was hired by the lender to do the transaction. Since day one nothing but problems. They got the file on June 29th, and the deal did not close until August 2nd. We asked 5 times for a breakdown of disbursements, and never received until after the transaction closed. Then they had the nerve to charge us close to $ 2400.00 which included disbursements. We were told that the cost would be $ 799.00 plus disbursements as per their website. We even paid the $ 80.00 fee to have the funds deposited the same day as funding, and we had to wait 3 extra days. Efforts to get them to explain the high charges have gone unanswered. We will be taking this matter up with the Law Society. Do not do business with this law firm unless you have deep pockets.
