This is a law firm out of Toronto, that set up in a commercial / industrial area in Barrie, Ontario. My son was in severe distress over a failed marriage and potential child custody issues. This law firm took a chunk of money, $5000, as a retainer. The telephone, email and in person contact was pathetic. The majority of time, there was no actual lawyer on site and communication had to be with a supposed paralegal/assistant. Messages were improperly passed on and calls took forever to have a response. My son was locked out and refused access to the home and left with the anxiety of not knowing when he might see his child. Weak correspondence with the other parties attourney led to absolutely nothing being achieved except for the magical disappearance of our money. What a total waste of time. One has to wonder if established law firms find small towns easy pickings for them to pad their profits? A terrible experience.

Thank you Lisa. My Daughter just went thru some troubling times. She had to obtain emergency custody order this past Monday and was to appear in court on Wednesday. My daughter was not sure if she required legal representation. She phoned Gelman & Associates ( Which she had a consultation about a month ago.)
