Greg Dunn is a phenomenal lawyer who is well versed in the law, incredibly prepared, and very persuasive in the courtroom! A young family member made a poor decision and was charged under the criminal code of Canada. I felt hopeless and afraid that this would hurt this young person's chance to pursue the career they wanted. So as I was researching lawyers, I came upon Mr. Dunn's law firm and read everything. He stood out for me. I live eight hours away, but decided to contact his firm anyway. Mr. Dunn responded to me the very next day. Due to the distance, I could not meet in person with Mr. Dunn, however, he took the time to call several times to discuss the merits of the case. We met on the day of the trial. Mr. Dunn was nothing but gracious and efficient. The trial went for most of the day and, throughout that time, Mr. Dunn was always one step ahead of the the prosecutor. His defence was to show that his client's rights had been violated during the arrest. When he cross-examined the arresting officer, he was relentless in getting the evidence he needed to support this. In his closing argument, Mr. Dunn quoted from many previous cases where the precedent that was set by each of them clearly showed that his client did have violated rights. It was a testament to how prepared he was for this case and to his attention to detail. The judge ruled in our favour and all the charges were dismissed. Greg Dunn saved our family so much heartache. When he took this case he gave it a 50% chance. Mr. Dunn turned that into a win because of his extensive knowledge and experience, and his unstoppable tenacity and eloquence in the courtroom....a force to be reckoned with! Thank you Greg. I was in need of a criminal defense lawyer, and after looking at reviews of the relevant Calgary firms, reached out through their website to Dunn. This was early on a Friday morning and Greg's associate Matt Deshaye called me back about 15 min later. We set up a consultation with Greg; Matt would be trying a case out of town and not quickly available. I met with Greg a few days later and hired Matt with a retainer. Both men expressed integrity for both sides following the letter of the law, guilt or innocence. Don't be fooled by Matt's quiet demeanor; he is an intelligent and thoughtful lawyer. Though the Crown had a strong case, Matt and Greg had both said many things can come up during trial, and Matt was right. When the Crown's technical defense got wobbly, Matt saw an immediate defensible opening and quickly asked for a brief adjournment. He met with Crown council and convinced them to dismiss the case, which they did. I wanted to take this chance to provide Mr. Dunn with my thanks for excepting my case and for the time he took in defence of my two Wildlife Act Offences; clearly there were hidden agendas and I was put on the ropes by an enforcement agency. They were out to make a statement and I was alone and told to seek legal counsel. I researched and talked to family members that have lived in Alberta their whole lives and was told that Dunn & Associates were the best and most experienced in Wildlife Act offences and would fight the hardest for me. On my family's advise I contacted and retained Greg Dunn's services with Dunn & Associates regarding my case. I was not an easy client and had a TON of questions and concerns to the point of distraction, but Greg stayed focused and kept my emotional state in mind and stayed positive and thankfully was able to sort out only the facts that he could defend in Criminal Court. After 2 years my case was finally heard in a Criminal Court where, Mr. Dunn and I faced a Provincial Criminal Prosecutor, 5 officers two of which, were supervisors, and three field officers that were all lined up against me. Thinking about it, that was a lot of officers takin out of service and had to travel with costs from all over the Province for an honest mistake! No one else in the court room was on my side as they were the only ones there in the court room which, was a very scary and lonely feeling. A career police officer, I found myself subject to distasteful allegations of wrongdoing and was transferred from leading an operational speciality team to “administrative duties” while ASIRT conducted a protracted investigation into the allegations. I met with Greg early on, and both his advice and the manner in which he provided it were exceptional.
