Chris Stiles and Alair South Surrey successfully renovated our 1990s home that consisted of a 3Bd/1Bath lower suite and 4Bd/2Bath upper floor. From the initial assessment/bid to final key turnover - Chris and project manager, Jeff, provided specific, reliable, and up-to-date information about the completed work, schedule tracking, scope tracking/changes, hiccups and budget tracking. They were quick to respond to any concerns or questions I had along the way, either via phone, email, text and on. I felt my family's investment was safe in their hands and had confidence in their ability to complete the scope of work. The spaces turned out beautiful, and I have gotten several compliments on the result from prospective tenants and friends. You can trust these guys, and they'll do everything to ensure that your needs and expectations are met. I've worked with several contractors in the past, and Alair, by far, have been the best. Chris and his team completely respect your desires within reasonable means to provide an optimized benefit and utilization of your resources. I have a thousand ideas running constantly and like to explore almost every option at my arsenal, and usually have trouble making final decisions. That makes things very tough for contractors, for several reasons but the key end point is - Alair will still deliver. They listened to all my ideas and provided quality input. Chris is very good at 'cutting out the fat" at the beginning for things he thinks may not bring actual value to your goals or budget, and Jeff was excellent at vetting all the costs and tracking the costs. Prior to meeting Chris, I've experienced it all when much of the scope/bid work was "free" just to win my business. Those are all projects where at least one of the following occurred: long wait times and zero/bad communication, no paper trails, hidden costs, underestimation of costs or difficulty causing the quantity and quality of work to be compromised, or the project just completely abandoned. Whatever money I thought I was 'saving' up front was nullified the moment the goal was not met, and it always costs more to fix these issues than just getting it right from the beginning. Chris Stiles and the Alair South Surrey set the bar quite high for me and will definitely be the first to call whenever I have another project or need to recommend a contractor to a friend.

Being a drywall contractor for 20 years, i've been around a lot of builders. For the past while my company has been working closely with Christopher and his projects. From start to finish they run very smooth. You can tell that Christopher takes his time in what he does and wants the best quality for every job big or small. Renovating a kitchen during a global pandemic - full gut and redo! It is possible! Christopher and Mark were so great to work with. I am very picky (seriously!) and Christopher understood and was also a perfectionist. Both he and Mark were available anytime by text, email or phone if I had any questions or concerns. Even when unexpected and unplanned things happened (i.e. the electrical for the stove was not to code when the house was built so had to be fully redone which meant all the other trades had to be rescheduled - not easy but they did it) they were in full communication with me. They are up front if something needs to be changed in the budget and the budget is fully explained. Their website allows you to follow the schedule of your work and find out what is happening when as well as approve all purchases along the way. I love the fact that there is a warrantee on their work as well. They put me in touch with a designer so that we could make sure things were well planned and it would all fit. Christopher also designed the fireplace surround around an ethanol burning fireplace I purchased at the last minute. So happy with the final result and I would definitely highly recommend Christopher and his group.

We worked with Christopher and Mark for a townhouse renovation and are over the moon about how lovely everything turned out. They were always punctual and responded quickly to all of our calls, texts, and emails throughout the project. Chris and Mark were also very proactive about little issues that cropped up during the project (that are always to be expected with any large renovation), in some cases we never even knew there was problem because they fixed it so fast. Christopher made sure to advise us throughout the planning stage how much things would cost and ensured we were aware how each option would affect our final budget. Christopher recommended an interior designer to us who was excellent and communicated with her throughout the project to make sure everything looked the way it should. Alair Homes - White Rock was contracted to renovate a fully accessible Shower/Washroom in our Care Home. The results of the renovation are beautiful and the work from each member of the crew, completely professional. Perhaps even more important was Christopher and his whole team’s conscientiousness when working in our space. We care for frail individuals, many with dementia, and Christopher and his crew not only kept our Seniors safe during construction, they also included and engaged our folks where possible. While the crew was working on our secured unit, doors were never left open and tools were never left unattended. Christopher and the Alair Homes White Rock Team recently completed a massive renovation on our two-storey home, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The project involved demolishing a 1971 Vancouver Special back to the studs and building it back new as a high-efficiency, 100% electric home. Completing a project of this scale and scope during a global pandemic was definitely a challenge, but Christopher and his team were more than up to the task. We would highly recommend using Alair Homes – White Rock. They did a major renovation on our master bathroom. On first meeting with Christopher Stiles he listened to what we wanted, then gave us a rundown on the design of the plan. We were given an estimate which had 3 parts – lowest cost, projected cost, and high cost. The final cost was determined by us as we made the decisions on what fixtures we were going to choose. We were given a website and the costs were itemized and changed regularly depending on our choices. All of their subcontractors were friendly, very efficient and knowledgeable about their individual responsibilities. They were willing to do some extra small jobs we needed elsewhere in the house. Our project manager was Mark Sickavish and he did an excellent job. He noticed small things that needed to be fixed and was proactive on getting those items corrected. Both Chris and Mark were accommodating and responsive to our calls and questions. We are very pleased with the finished project.

When the global coronavirus pandemic shut down everything shortly after we had demo’d our kitchen and two bathrooms we thought we were going to be in for a long haul, but Christopher and Mark pulled off our renos with only minimal delays. If you’re looking for a contractor I cannot recommend Alair Homes White Rock highly enough. For our first major project we were lucky to stumble across Christopher and have already recommended him to a friend for another project which was completed at roughly the same time as ours and also led to a five star review. Choosing a contractor can sometimes feel like trying to pick the winning numbers in a lottery but with Christopher and Mark you know you’ll be on to a winner.

We selected Christopher and his team to do an extensive renovation of our home after considering several other construction companies. We purchased a home last fall and while we knew there had been damage from water intrusion, the extent of the damage was difficult to ascertain until we had opened up the walls. The project turned out to require essentially a re-build of the entire front of our home including the 2 ocean facing patios. It quite honestly could have been a complete disaster (both physically and financially) had we not picked the right group. Fortunately for us, Christopher's past experience working with Vancouver's "leaky condo crisis" allowed him the insight to deal with significant challenges along the way (including a sub-structure to support the 20 foot ceilings in the entryway while the front wall was replaced). His immediate support team of Mark, Spenser and Derek were professional, respectful, tidy and pleasant to have around. His subtrades obviously respect him and work hard for him, which I am sure also helped our bottom line. At the end of the day the project was larger than we initially thought, but Christopher ensured total transparency of scope throughout the project and was completely honest and trustworthy. Of course of all this was amidst COVID-19 which was handled diligently and carefully to ensure the project continued to move forward without any compromise to our safety. We are beyond delighted with the end result and our beautiful patios to enjoy the summer! I highly recommend Christopher Stiles and his team.
