Lovely, informative, kind and accommodating staff. The ambiance you'd expect a library to have.

Good selection and programming for a small library, although they seem to shy away from potentially controversial offerings.

Best library in town!

I go there each and every single day monday till saturday and i spend at least...3 to 6 hours there. The staff are amazing and super friendly!! They have a great selection of books including certain true crime books they have purchased just for me to read. They are quick at getting an interlibrary loan, they are extremely knowledgeable and they have an extraordianary amount of patience. They fix things right away as soon as is possible if something needs to be fixed for a patron. 99 percent of the time the library is quiet however, when it is noisy, there is nothing wrong with it! I see some people complain about it but its the 21st century and librarys are not quiet anymore nor are they supposed to be.... out with the old rules and in with the new! Its actually refreshing to see and hear people talking as it shows there is nothing wrong with not being silent at any library anymore. If i could give 20 stars i would! I reccomend this library to everyone far and wide!

A very good selection for a small city's library. And I mean, who complains about a library?! It's free books! If you don't like the ambiance, you can take those books home and read them there!

I phone the Library to ask basic question and a receptionist replied and she was Impolite and unhappy to answer that basic question Also, they feel uncomfortable if you phone a few times looking for some information about the city all in all I will not recommend the Library especially in St-Thomas, Ontario to anyone

Staff are nice and know where things are located. They'll help you if you ask. My reason for low stars is because I go to libraries to get away from noise, and to help me focus/concentrate on assignments for school, but don't expect to do that here. People are far too loud, including staff. You'd have more luck finding a quiet area at a bar.

I loved spending many summer days here as a kid, and it's now my daughters' favourite place to go in St Thomas, year-round. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I've learned not only from the books I've borrowed for research, but from the staff as well. If a book is unavailable from here, they will help you borrow it through interlibrary loan. Sometimes they even buy the book for the library, in which case you get to read it first!

Very slip shod attempt at being progressive. Everything from programs and activities and facilities to borrowing materials possesses a 'not quite finished' feel. I would guess a board meeting consists of throwing darts at ideas while thoroughly intoxicated. The staff I encounter appear completely self serving. If you don't belong to their social club they don't have time to provide you with quality service. I definitely would not leave the safety of my children in their hands as this seems to be an area of concern. Regardless of how unprofessional they may be they are not intended as babysitters. Of course ymmv.

BIG EDIT: My sister no longer feels safe bringing my nephews to the library because of the ramped and obvious drug use happening there. It is a sad, sad day when you no longer feel safe bringing kids to THE LIBRARY in your city. Do better St.Thomas. - Wonderful library, surprisingly great selection of not only books, but also other services offered, especially for a city this size. Also the staff are all super friendly and helpful.

Quiet, neat, and tidy with very friendly and helpful staff. It’s very easy and comfortable to go and find the right books you need when you need them, and if one can’t find something, there’s always a reliable staff available to help.

Christina Lariviere

They have ok services an ok staff but you need an address in st. Thomas to access anything and apperently now if you owe them money you cant get on the internet and if you have ever been too or lived in St. Thomas not many people have money. Food banks and stores are to far from where poor people actually live busses are unreliable and don't go where you need them to go an cost more then most large city's.

Spent some time with the microfilm reader poring over old newspapers. Jess was awesome and got me from microfilm newbie to (semi)proficient in no time!

Overall good place to visit. The staff is generally helpful and pleasant. The shelves aren't as organized as they could be so finding items is sometime a challenge. They also purge the shelves often so items that were available on your last visit may be gone next time.

Amanda Goodwin

Good variety of material, different mediums, friendly staff. The E-book library could be better.
