My wife and I purchased a house in June 2019 that was built in 1985, with closing at the end of August. It required extensive updating, the bathroom and kitchen had to gutted but the only real design work was in the kitchen. We did not intend to move any walls. Ideate was recommended to us. We met with Jason Kasper and toured the house with him. In two design meetings we gave him the same message: we wanted the work to start right after Labour Day and while we live comfortably, we are not wealthy. Consequently, we expected a design that was affordable and ready in time to get a building permit for September. The first design did not arrive until the end of August and was so over the top that it was virtually useless. We had to go through the house eliminating many elements that he had included. We did not get the revised design until the end of the first week in October and many of the requested changes had not been made. We provided him with a list of the things that were supposed to be changed on the second design. Two more weeks went by before we received the third design. At a point in time when the renovation should be 50% complete, we finally have a design to take to the City to get a building permit. So, if you are looking for a designer that does not listen to the client, gets totally lost in their own artistic vision and pays no attention to deadlines either requested by the client or self-imposed, Ideate is the firm for you.
