Working with Ryan was amazing. He has knowledge of bylaws and how the entire process works, meaning the he understand limitations of the lot and what is expected from the municipality. We were able to use Skype and he could show us the plans and work on them while we discussed items with him. He was also able to give us a link that allowed us to "walk" through our design using a 3D model, this way you can look at different views. He also helped my partner and I negotiate between us pros and cons for items, for example, whether to have a bathtub or just a shower. Everything was completed in a timely manner and Ryan is pleasant and professional to deal with.

My partner and I were apprehensive before entering the daunting world of home renovations. We had purchased our 50's home in 1980, and had done a bit of remodeling, but it was now time to make some significant changes and upgrades. We had heard stories about renos that went wrong and we didn’t want that to happen to us. So we hired a large renovation company to manage the project and hire the sub-trades to keep the job moving along. As we defined the scope of work with our contractor, he suggested bringing in architect Ryan Wylie to come up with a design-plan and drawings. Ryan came on site with our contractor and we discussed our ideas together as we walked through our house room by room. Through brain-storming a basic concept evolved to help address some of the shortcomings of the original interior layout and also to give the exterior a fresh new look. Then Ryan went to work and within a few weeks he had completed the design. He drew the house-plans in detail, creating the design that had been in our heads. Work started, and as the project progressed, we seized an opportunity to extend our existing deck and incorporated French-doors from the kitchen for access. In order to make this major change, we had to go to variance for a second time. Despite extremely short lead-time, Ryan was able to modify the plans and over a few days he had incorporated the design changes we wanted in time for submission to Saanich for approval. Whew! Eight months later, our house is nearing completion. Throughout this process, we are thankful to have had Ryan Wylie on board (and his company, Latitude 48 Design), for his well-thought out plans, his expertise in dealing with building bylaws, and his quick action which enabled us to achieve more in our home than we had ever imagined possible. After making the decision to design and build our new home, our general contractor recommended that we talk to Ryan. After meeting with Ryan on our property, he asked us a few questions about our vision for the home. As we walked the property, Ryan took notes, while offering suggestions when the property handed us obstacles. A few weeks later the design plans were emailed to us, complete with a 3D walk-through. We were awe struck. Over the course of the one hour meeting, he managed to understand exactly what we were looking for, and put it into plans that we could see and understand. From the coffee bar, to the theatre room, he captured the essence of our lifestyle and how the design would interact with us everyday. Since then he has touched base to see how the build process is proceeding and assisted with a colour image of the exterior based on our preferences. Ryan is a pleasure to work with, and transformed our thoughts into a home that we are excited to be building. Highly recommended!
