Over a period of seven months (mid-September 2020 to mid-April 2021), Micah Jansson of Jansson Home worked tirelessly to renovate the main living areas of our 54-year-old home, and we couldn’t be happier or more satisfied with the level of craftsmanship and professional results.
Micah’s education, training, and experience as a contractor in Finland and Germany are second to none, and his additional education in graphic design and drafting, along with his schooling in fine arts, really complements his expertise!
We hired Micah originally to finish our main bathroom, but we were so impressed by his high European standards that we asked him to reconstruct the en suite and kitchen, build a barn door closet in the primary bedroom, redesign a linen/broom closet in the hallway, and install new doors (along with their jambs, casings, and hardware), and baseboards throughout. Micah’s attention to detail with everything he tackles is incredible. For example, when waterproofing areas for tiling, the high level of prepping often left us speechless! We can honestly say that we have never witnessed a carpenter who could work with the speed and precision of this man who puts in eight-hour days, five days a week.
We say reconstruct our en suite and kitchen because Micah had to remove and build walls, remove and replace windows, and strip back existing walls, floors, bulk heads, and ceilings to their studs. This was not an easy job, as anomalies always present themselves in these situations, and true to form, floors were crooked, wall joists needed repositioning, electrical wiring and plumbing were abysmal, and the list goes on. However, that said, Micah faced each new challenge with the same amount of amazing enthusiasm, dedication, perseverance, and skill during the entire renovation.
Being the astute contractor that he is, Micah has electrical and plumbing teams that work with him to improve existing infrastructures. We do want to give a shout-out to red seal electrician Pat McGowan and his assistant Maria Grimaldi and highly-skilled and experienced plumber Rob Bryce for their intricate and tireless work in removing a quagmire of ancient electrical wiring and pipes, respectively, and expertly replacing them.
We are absolutely delighted, not only with Micah’s superior ability to complete all aspects of the renovation, but also his knowledge of contemporary design. We are the lucky owners, indeed, of a house with a state-of-the-art main living area in general, and kitchen and bathroom areas in particular, and will always be grateful for the attention that this talented man has given our home.
Micah has exceptional people skills, as well: he is easy to get to know, but at the same time he is respectful of his clients and works as unobtrusively as possible. In addition, we found Micah to be a man of his word with exceptional integrity and trustworthiness.
We would have no hesitation in hiring Micah again, should we require more renovations, and we would be more than happy to highly recommend and/or answer any questions that prospective clients might have. (Our contact information can be obtained through Micah Jansson.)
The logo on Micah’s van reads, “Jansson Home, Specializing in Tiling and Saunas”, but we believe that every aspect of our renovation was completed by a very versatile specialist.
Thank you again, Micah. Pierre and Jacquelyn Scholtz
