As you know, we don't usually bother to write scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Architect is classified in the category of Winery.
amazing food and wine pairing lesson! Richard was extremely knowledgeable and accomodating. beautiful decor and and all around great experience.
Great atmosphere. The back patio is setup really nicely to allow for social distancing. Beautiful view of the vineyard.
Great wine some of my favourite this rating is purely to show my disappointment when i returned home to Albert to see although we bought three bottles of wine they didn't removed the wine tasting portion from our bill that they're suppose to when you purchased the 3 bottles. It's only $15.00 bucks but i never would have bought 3 bottles if this wasn't the deal.
A very nice, higher end winery. The service was exceptional and the wines were very good. We had received a tip to ask if hey had any off-menu samples (which apparently happens occasionally) but no such luck.
Normally we stay for the larger commercial wineries but this was a wonderful suprise great welcoming experience food and wine that are world class.
We had an amazing experience doing the wine and food lab here! Richard was amazing! Very informative, friendly, and funny. He made the experience so much more fun and interactive. The entire winery is beautiful and modern. The outside …
Very friendly place with beautiful patio overlooking the vineyards .
Came here during the pandemic in early November. Might be biased because the weather was so warm and beautiful. Loved the ambiance (private, spacious), our servers, and loved our wine and snacks.
Sleek and modern look! Fantastic wine that exemplifies the gold standard for Niagara wineries!
Decent wine but expensive. This is a big modern place with tour buses filling it up if you like that kind of thing. Prepare to pay $10 to taste unless you buy 3(!) bottles. A rip off compared to other smaller nicer places
Incredible winery with unbelievably good wine. The customer service is unparalleled and they have some topshelf wines like the one pictured below, one of my favourite bottles I've ever had. This is a must stop location for anyone visiting NOTL.
Staff's not too helpful. Sip and Sizzle event pairing were not as good (cold soup) compared to other wineries.
Great wines and great staff. I very much enjoyed the tasting and friendly staff. The building itself is worth checking out, would recommend this when in the area.
Jack was a great host! He was amazing at explaining everything and he is very knowledgeable. Thank you
tried to do a tasting without an reservation, the hostess turned us away witch is fine, but was spoken to vary poorly in the process.
Richard is very knowledgeable about wines and super friendly. Love them wine and the people
The winery was very clean and organised. I went there gor a wedding. Thr good was great and the red and white wine was fantastic. Great job Trish.
Have been to a few weddings here and it was very classy, would highly recommend for your perfect vineyard reception! ;)
Dude with the 2015 plaid shirt pouring for us was checking his watch like he had somewhere to be. Told him we've travelled to many wine regions, scoffed at us and said every state makes wine, I don't think he's ever been outside of Canada, because that is an asinine statement. Reds were ok, service was awful. Acted like it was Cakebread when it tasted like Layer Cake.
The best experience we have had at the vineyards in Niagara on the Lake. Request Dave if possible! Thanks for your amazing experience and amazing wines!!!
Had a lovely time doing a wine tasting here yesterday. Dave was very knowledgeable and personable--lots of positive little touches in his expert approach. The selection of wines, and the little charcuterie board pairings were excellent and beautifully presented. All in all a highly recommended place to spend a couple of hours if you enjoy good wine. I would love to return in the summer, or for one of their music events.
Complex and amazing wines. I cellared an icewine made by the winemaker, J.L. Groux, for 22 years, and when we opened it, its flavor was absolutely amazing. He understands how to make blends that hold their own over many years, and the flavor only improves. I particularly like his Semillon; it is a flavor you don't find in many other Niagara wines.
We just had dinner and our guide Ben was simply spectacular. The story of the vineyard is worth listening. They care about earth.
Beautiful winery - we came just for a tasting and ended up chatting with one of the staff who took us out to the vineyard and where they smoulder and make charcoal out of the trunks of the vines. It was definitely an unexpected experience that really meant a lot to us for someone to take the time to show us what Stratus is all about.
If "Stratus" refers to the Stratosphere of prices than yes. Staff were friendly however. Be prepared to spend more than $35+ a bottle
My mother, daughter, and I had a wonderful afternoon at the Winery with Allan for a private tasting. He was so informative and delightful. The best Winery experience of the day. Excellent wines, and we brought a number of bottles of varying grapes home with us to enjoy later. Thank you again Allan ! Best, Debbie, Krista, and Charlotte <3
What a beautiful place to visit. The staff and service was excellent. Real nice selection of different wines to try. Recommend the visit. Totally worth your time, a stones throw from the downtown core.
Went here with a work function for a wine tour and really enjoyed it. The speaker was very informative and fun and the win was great tasting. Would recommend.
It was our first time visiting a vineyard. Tima was very knowledgeable and made it an incredible experience for us. He was a great help and explained the whole process very well. We had a fun day. Thanks Stratus!
Great vineyard visit with Dave (who speaks French), we learned so much things about the specificities of Canadian wine culture and the wine we tasted are really good quality. This is a small vineyard which privileges good quality wine and sustainable method instead of high productivity and chemical products. Staff was really nice with us, we recommend!
Highly recommend the Food & Wine Lab - if you can, ask for Richard! He’s extremely knowledgeable and does an excellent job at teaching this seminar! We will definitely be back! The wines are the best in NOTL - they’re by far not the least expensive but you truly get what you pay for!
Impeccable experience! Our group of 8 did the Sip & Stroll tour with Jack and it was amazing. He talks about the history of the business, their sustainability practices, and the production of the wines. We tasted 6 wines and they were all …
Amazing modern facility, beautifully designed. Probably the nicest contemporary modern winery in the region. Wines are a bit pricey however. The back terrace is a great place to sit and relax and enjoy a glass of wine.
Don’t drive by this stunning building without stopping in. Off the main road as you head into NOTL with lots of parking. Equally beautiful inside with a fireplace out back you can gather around and drink wine while taking in the vineyard views. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The man who guided us through our tasting got to know us and the type of wines we liked. Outside of what we had selected he gave us a sample of the unfiltered Chardonnay. This unique wine was complex and rich. We enjoyed it so much we grabbed a bottle. They ship within Canada! Can’t wait to order some more bottles online.
Was turned away from shopping tasting and dining today. Due to covid restrictions and unclear website instructions. Tastings and dining are by reservation only. Requesting that you update your policies and signage for people driving into your establishment. Sincerely, a disappointed customer.
This vineyard surpasses its competitors, by simply focusing on Quality, not Quantity. It’s a rare gem that everyone should visit. The best Cab Franc, without going to France. Our fav!!
Very good service and server had pretty good knowledge of different kinds of wines And how they are made...
Stratus is always on my list at every visit to NOTL. Everything is excellent - atmosphere, staff, service, wines, ultra modern decor, and live DJ with a great selection of electro beats. Book ahead and get a nice spot on the patio. Great for people with good taste :).
This is the most "down to earth" winery in Niagara. No need to feel like you're inexperienced in wine tastings (even if you are). The main focus is on making you enjoy the wine, and learn something new - whether it is about pairings or how wine is made. The customer service is great, no pressure to buy or leave with a bottle (but trust me, you will want to). If you have any questions once you leave the winery, the team is also happy to help. Looking forward to coming back here.
I previously purchased weather report red and it was amazing. Today I purchased a 2017 cabernet sauvignon for my guests for New Years. I spent $75 on this bottle and it tastes terrible. For the price I thought it would be at least …
Went for a wine tasting. Staff were awesome and it's a beautiful on the inside as well, if the weather permits the patio is great too with a beautiful fire place.
Stratus was the first stop on our self-guided wine tour. We were a group of 6 and dropped in to sample a flight. You can choose four 1oz samples of white, red, and icewine for $15. It took some time for us to be acknowledged and staff was not very welcoming. Their Tasting Room is beautiful with floor to ceiling glass that overlooks their vineyards. I enjoyed their chardonnay and was pleasantly surprised by their red icewine.
Beautiful wine tasting room! Very friendly staff. Had a great time; wines are delicious but pricey for the region.
Amazing resturant where you are able to sit in the distillery which can be cold and dark but the atmosphere is unmatched to other vineyard in the area. The food was delicious and rich.
I felt staff aren't as welcoming if you're not white. The don't tell you in your face, but it's obvious in their behaviour. Level up!
I'm sure there was staff somewhere, but all we saw was one person who was apparently not allowed to leave the bar. No greeting or any kind of offer of assistance.
Consistent quality wines across the board We received phenomenal service from experienced staff. Fred was super friendly and personable. He really helped make our experience memorable! We even got to see the production space!
A wonderful premium wine experience on every level. Amazing wines, great patio for wine by the glass options and even more amazing due to the suggestions from Jack and the service from Margot. Not to be missed if visiting the area. Try their wines and enjoy their service and you will be hooked.
Our experience at Stratus was beyond amazing!! Had friends visit from NY and we decided to hit as many wineries as we could at NOTL and stratus was the second one! We were introduced to botrytis affected grapes wine for the first time. We are all scientists so the story about the fungus and how it creates an amazing wine was absolutely fascinating! We loved that wine so much that several bottles were purchased on the way back to NY. If you’re in this winery, and you like sweet or ice wine, the botrytis sémillon is a must try! Other than that the winery itself was so beautiful ????. Way better than any experience I had in Napa, California!
Excellent service! Knowledgeable staff, especially our server Jordan.
My favourite winery in NOTL! We sat out on the patio and ordered 2 glasses of wine with a charcuterie board. The items on the board were delicious and locally sourced. The service and atmosphere is excellent. Can't wait to go back!
A top 5 winery with some great wines. Always have several bottles on hand in our wine cellar.
Among the top 3 best winery experiences we had on our whole trip around Lake Ontario (PEC, FLX and Niagara region)! Wines are elaborate and delicious, modern and immaculate interior, but also the service - Patrick poured for us at the bar, he was polite, smiling and attentive and was a major contributor to this memorable experience!
Amazing tour and wine, we did the Signature Tasting. The experience was fantastic. Loved learning about the winery and their wine making process. Our tour guide was super informative and made the experience amazing.
enjoyed my wine tasting, however felt like a big warehouse was not very cozy
Wine was decent but the servers were not friendly.
Have always loved Charles Baker wines, visiting here just expanded the options. Dog friendly patio, great atmosphere, fantastic stop.
This is a SCAM winery. After meeting the winery manager who so "generously" gave us a tour of the vineyard, we asked him for dinner recommendations. He tagged along and proceeded to take us to a restaurant where HE picked two bottles of wine that were over $300 (WITHOUT asking us whatsoever). Then at the end of the dinner, he slid US the bill and expected us to foot the wine AND HIS dinner. I have never felt so slimed by a winery or winery manager. I have told many people of my terrible experience here. I am never returning.
Fantastic estate winery, great, knowledgeable staff and of course fantastic wines. Definitely recommend their new cabernet Franc
Best wine we tried in the region! Dave was extremely nice and helpful with our wine tastings. Spacious sleek bar to accommodate many people at a time. Great location close to old town.
Adam gave us such an amazing experience. He was extremely patient with us translating from polish to French to English. Thanks for an amazing day.
Tres chic! Had an engaging and educational tasting experience and bought a nice 2007 White blend. Love that they offer free EV charging. What a great idea! Who ever thought of that? ;)
Amazing facility and great wine. Dave conducted our tasting and was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Excellent vineyard, perfect approach to winemaking that shows up in everything they do. Highly recommend the Wine and Food Lab.
Love their red icewine compared to other icewine in the areas. Always packed with people for wine tasting.
Overpriced wine tasting, with the tasting only comped with a purchase of 3 bottles of overpriced wine. I would recommend you skip this particular tasting. Very poor service indeed
Breathtaking views from the patio of the vineyard and winery. You can choose to do flights of wine inside or order by the glass on the desk. We sat on the deck for awhile enjoying a glass and the view.
The winery is very modern looking with lots of natural light. The wines are fairly nice and I suggest you take a stroll in their beautiful backyard
Best Ice Wine. But you need to buy 3 bottles to get the tasting included when most are doing 1 or 2.
We just left there ... Wines were great but the short haired lady kept our America dollars and would not give us change back. She kept talking (I'm sure) so we would forget to ask for our change .. but when I asked her she said we paid and all is good (while still gripping our $20 American bill) .. really?!
Pretty Awesome. Really enjoying the facility and the Wine. …
Excellent winery - high quality doing some good things with varietals not usually seen in Canada.
We stopped by to take in a flight of wine. The facility is contemporary and very clean. The wine was very good and affordable. The outdoor patio is fantastic. We had amazing weather which helps. The service and information provided during the wine tasting was excellent.
Best winery in NOTL! We had a fantastic tasting with Katherine - she is super knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel so comfortable. She needs to have a glass with us next time!
Great wine tasting experience. Cool LEED-certified building. Very knowledgeable, personable wine steward. Really liked two relatively unusual varietals that I had never tried before--- Semillon and Tannat. Took home the Semillon. The Ontario wine country near Niagara has a lot to offer.
We visited Stratus this weekend for a tasting. It was a very nice experience and staff was friendly and knowledgeable. It seemed well organized and very clean also. Wines were delicious and we purchased several bottles. Would love to eat on the patio next time we visit.
Great vineyard, staffs were friendly. The wine tasting costs $10 for 4 different wines.
Best wine we tried compare to the 10 wineries we visited in the region. The door was opened for us and we were greeted by a nice lady telling us "you'll be glad you came to visit us". The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about all of the wines and the process. If there was anything to nitpick about it was that the wines were priced on the higher side, but unlike some other wineries these wines justified the higher price due to their quality.
Had the most amazing experience at Stratus Winery this afternoon! Dave, who led our tasting, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable as he took us through the different varieties and how they pair with different dishes! We will definitely be back to visit Stratus and Dave very soon!!
It's one of the best looking Vineyards. The staff is knowledgeable. But I feel this is more of a place for venues and events than proper wine tasting. They offer food but it's super pricey too. It is expensive to come here overall. I would say you can skip this one if you're looking for fun reasonably priced wine. Has a bit of a serious vibe to it. $10 to sample 4 $4 to sample 1
Excellent tour, Rick was a fantastic host and really opened our eyes to the complexity of wine .
What I liked best about the outdoor self-guided tasting at this winery was that the flight came with a QR code for each wine that lead to a short video explanation - that was a very innovative touch give our current covid circumstances! …
This place is like going to a used car dealership. They hard sell you and try and get as much money out of you as possible. The wine is way over priced for what you get. You can get a way better Barolo or Napa Cab at the LCBO for what Stratus charges for their wine. Don't be fooled their wine is not worth the price. Be prepared to pay the tasting flight even if you buy wine the "fine print" will indicate that you still have to pay for the tasting flight.
This cheese plate ????????
Didn't love the "tasting" option offered. I would much rather a $5 1oz then $18 5oz option. I ordered the Cab Franc and didn't enjoy it, but had to finish it because I paid $18 for this glass. This winery gives off the air of an elite establishment, but the building was full of fruit flies and overpriced wine. I would try it again, but only if they offered flights so I could actually sample the wine before choosing to consume 5oz of it...
Beautiful, Ultra modern wine tasting venue with many good selections and large enough to accommodate large groups. Lots of parking, well visited and busy. One of my Niagara favourites.
Gorgeous property, very knowledgeable staff and great wine... i do find it is a little pricier than other wineries but i guess it speaks to the place you are in.
What a great experience! Fred made it much more than expected. What an impressive, worldly person Fred is. So much knowledge about wine & the Canadian wine history . We will definitely be back and highly recommend!
Had a great time! Richard was a great host and very informative. Explained each glass with great detail. Loved the room we were in. A beautiful vineyard.
Husband and I stopped in for a tasting. Decided to go with the Fun & Funky tasting I think it was called. We didn't particularly love any of the 4. Was quite disappointed in the service. There were 3 people working, but it seemed like only 1 was taking orders and delivering the wines. Sat without even being acknowledged for nearly 15 minutes. It was a nice day though, so we didn't complain. Nice atmosphere, but now that we've been once, no need to return.
Nice setup with a great view of their vineyard. very friendly and flexible staff. Was very impressed that they had EV charging stations, only winery I saw in NOTL with this!
Allan was a fantastic host and guide through our tasting.
Our tasting room host Dave, was the best. Extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to speak with.
One of the best (if not the best!) winery in NOTL. Overall experience is amazing (wine, service and venue). Fred was very friendly and a good reference to discuss wines. Wines are expensive but again some of the best we've taste in the region!
This place is nothing short of amazing. They continue to produce outstanding quality wines venturing into the ultra premium wine market not just locally now but globally. The winemaker JL, makes every experience there for the members memorable. David, Jack, and Adam also contribute to the work class hospitality here. Absolutely stunning property and wines. Ask lots of questions and try everything. They’re Assemblages red and white year after year are world class. Be sure to do the premium tasting, enjoy the Can Franc, and be adventurous and enjoy the Petit Verdot and Viognier. One of our must stops every time we’re in NOTL. Great job!
We have visited a lot of Niagara wineries and enjoyed almost all of them. Unfortunately this was one we were not a fan of. Not very welcoming. Was not busy but we had to seek out someone for samples. Wines were ok. Found one red I liked. The price point was high for what was on offer. They don’t waive the tasting fees for buying a bottle or two like most places. You must buy 3 at $40-60 per bottle. For this price point I highly recommend Two sisters or Big Head. You must get the Cab Franc. Sorry Stratus. You just didn’t do it for us.
Visited Stratus Vineyards today for the first time. Their white wine was very nice but after buying 2 bottles at $ 48.00 a piece I was very surprised that they didn't waive the tasting fee. In my experience of tasting wine in the Niagara Region the fee is waived if you buy their product regardless of the number of bottles. Stratus you should look at your reviews to see that most people find your practise of not waiving the fee unacceptable. I will not visit your Vineyard again!
A modern yet warm atmosphere surrounded by beautiful vineyards! Kind and professional staff.
Outstanding wine tasting experience. David was super knowledgable and very nice
