He took the time to walk us through the entire house and explained things to us (the issues and solutions) so that anyone could understand. His digital report included pictures and detailed information. We spent a solid hour or more going through the home with Greg. He made sure we understood both the good and the bad pieces of the home. Fully recommend this inspector. Greg is awesome. He is a professional and he is thorough, friendly and knowledgeable. After wasting my money 10 years ago on an inspector (who I suspect took a weekend course at most) who missed so many obvious things, I told my realtor that I wanted an inspector that was either themselves a trades person or with construction experience. My realtor (a 30 year veteran in Nelson real estate) told me that he will only use two inspectors in the area, and that Greg was one of them. Greg spent an entire day in the house we were looking to buy and very "got behind the scenes" to find any potential issues. In the end, we bought the house knowing that the issues (as with any 100+ year old house) would require attention, but were not a deal breaker. Greg provided an in-depth report and has made himself available to review to answer any questions or clarify recommendations down the road. Best of all, he limits himself to one inspection a day, so he can do the job properly; you never get the sense that he is rushing away or pre-occupied. He spent 1.5-2 hours just walking us through the house at the end. If you're going to buy a house in Nelson, you know you're going to pay a lot of money. The cost of an inspector that is "working for you" as a purchaser is worthwhile and at best can steer you away from trouble, and at the very least provide you with a maintenance plan to protect your investment.

Made a number of false claims , was invasive in his inspection resulting in damaging integrity of insulation, pried up siding and roofing causing damage to the roofing and integrity of siding, deprogrammed my thermostat and was generally rude in his communication.

He showed up at the property promptly, despite the 2 hour travel time to our remote area and horrible travel weather. "Rain is the best weather for a house inspection!" he said enthusiastically. Solid point! Greg's passion for his work is enviable and it's clear that he enjoys what he does. His digital report with photos and detailed explanations made it very easy for us to go back to the seller to negotiate the price down significantly based on his findings; it's pretty hard to argue with photos. His conduct was unprofessional, invasive, aggressive and hostile towards home owner who was present during the inspection. He would exaggerate and speculate regarding potential problems, assume conditions without any proof or fact checking and he charged more for the inspection than his quoted fee. He'll spend hours to scrutinize your house and with his negative comments he will discourage and scare away many potential buyers. If you're a home buyer and his client, you might not be bothered with his attitude, as all the 5 star ratings from buyers suggest, but as a home owner you will not appreciate how this inspector treats you and your property. I don't ever want this man inspecting my house and I do not recomend him!

Worst experience, lost a sale due to his lack of knowledge of the Trail area homes. In report he said there was knob and tube, we had electricians come in next day, the electrical is to code; no active knob and tube. 5 hour inspection, waste of time, to report untruth to potential buyers and realtors. Disclosure property statement was signed on truth/transparent to the potential buyers and realtors. Do not use him.

I chose Greg from Assured Home Inspections because he is independent and works solely for his client, and in my case, I was buying a home and needed a thorough inspection done. Greg spent 4 hours going through the house and found a significant concern that would have gone undetected, had it not been for his attention to detail. After his inspection, he walked a family member through the home, as I was not available to attend. He talked at length about the good points of the house, as well as concerns, and for each concern he had remedies to address them. He then took the time to talk to me on the phone.
