Poor, shoddy service. Kevlar is a bait-and-switch company. Prior to signing up with them, we were told by Gord AND Kevin (who is one of the owners) that we would be priority customers due to the fact my mother is disabled in a wheelchair and they both assured me that our driveway and ramp would be cleared off by 6:30am and 6:30pm to accommodate the PSWs that are coming in. Our first snowfall (13CM) came and they did not come until 10:15PM - and emails to Kevin to inform him we had not seen their removal people went unanswered. (Prior to them getting our money, Kevin responded promptly.) Second snowfall they did not come until midnight - and 3 emails to Kevin stating they did not come went unanswered.
The real proof of the shoddy service Kevlar provides was Tues Dec 20 when we had to go to a doctor appointment at the hospital. Mom phoned on Mon Dec 19 after I noticed the sidewalk plow had come by and plowed over the bottom of the driveway and the snow on the driveway was thick to ask Kevin to send his guys to clear a space from ramp to the street to ensure mom could get to the Paratransit in her power wheelchair. Kevin said they would be by before the 9am pick up.
Given their shoddy service from before, I knew I had to wake up early to clear the snow. Sure enough, 7am and they did not come yet. I went out and spent 1 hr clearing to the pavement to get mom down to the street. I could not complete it all the way as I had to prepare her for the bus (she's disabled and needs assistance) We got mom on to the bus, without a problem. However, coming home at 1:30pm mom got stuck in the uncleared portion of the driveway. Kevlar had never come by. The paratransit driver helped me get her wheelchair unstuck!
We called Kevin to complain about their shoddy service. He insisted his guys came by, claiming GPS tells him where his trucks are. That was a lie as I was the one to clear it and the snow from the sidewalk plows was still evident in the area I did not clear. We canceled the service, agreeing to pay $50 for the de-iceing we had asked him to do one day. He charged us $62 for that instead. He also attempted to charge us a cancelation fee, which we said we would not pay due to the fact they did NOT do what they promised (said they'd come by to clear the driveway before 9am, also agreed to make sure we were cleared by 6:30am/6:30pm for the PSWs that come care for mom - none of this was done). Kevin gave mom attitude, stating we were not priority and other customers needed service also.
Do not use Kevlar. They will not give you the service they promise in order to get you to sign up and get your money! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.
