After the wonderful experience we had at the Fortress of Louisburg we were let down. Parks Canada should spend some money here to add something more..maybe a history of wireless after Marconi or more artifacts. Perhaps even have the staff do a bit of an intro, but they seemed uninterested. Also some grounds maintenance is in order.

Came in and everything was borded up. Closed? No info indicating operating hours etc

Normand Cyr

I didn't know that this is we're the first trans Atlantic wireless transmission happened. We can be proud of it. Of you have time, it's only a short stop and the view is quite nice.

Michael Penda

Not much to see. Building was closed.

Ramesh Manni

Great place to learn, and fun for kids

John Gibson

Small.... but a great place for learning about our history

For a place of such significance - not just to Canada but the world - this is a remarkably hidden little place to try and find. It's one small building and a bit of an outdoor walk but absolutely loaded with information and historical value in Three languages! French, English and Italian. I flipped through the guest book and can honestly say that from all over the world people have come to this location. And - Families - it's FREE. From there we went a few blocks over and down on the roads so we could go down the concrete steps to a bit of rocky beach where everyone is busy searching for beach glass. One of the locals said, "can't find it like we used to" which makes every tiny piece a fun treasure to pounce on.

Interesting to stand where history was made but disappointing how extremely run down it was.

Fascinating piece of history! Great site to visit and explore. Only thing we were disappointed with was the state of the washroom. Didn't seem very clean. Paper towel dispenser not working, toilet not clean.

Only worth the detour if you have a particular interest in the history of wireless communications. Small display and base of wireless towers

POd User

Small but very well executed. Knowledgeable staff.

This site is gorgeous in the Spring. I visited with my fiance in the late afternoon, and it was chilly, peaceful, and entirely devoid of other visitors. The cliffs and the sound of the ocean are beautiful. Aside from the natural beauty of the site, the remains of Marconi's towers are fascinating. There are several signs with historic information, even if there are no guides to help. On a different note, this site is so difficult to find! We had to use our GPS and just trust that we were indeed going the right way. You will pass by a lot of houses in a residential area before you arrive.

Ian Carmichael

The place itself is ok. There isn't much there but it is interesting. The two workers weren't great. It was like we were alone there really.

Arthur Ma

Very educational stop. Nice views. Learned lots on Marconi's scientific contributions.

Mike Carlucci

Fascinating history. Friendly and knowledgeable staff at a place just tucked away in a small town.

Very interesting to see the first transfer Atlantic wireless signal. The old footing from the tower and the museum. Make visit you won't be let down.

Michael Abramczyk

Fantastic! Such a wonderful surprise. I love history, so today's visit was a great excuse to "nerd out". Very simple museum. Only took about 20-30 minutes for the entire visit. If you're in the area (and love history) give this spot a look.

Matt Tamsett

A very small site, but with a fascinating history. Good for a quick 30 minute stop to fill some time when in Glace Bay.

Nic Filz

Interesting historical location!

Nathan Gildart

It's small but extremely significant to telecommunications history. Guides were wonderful and approached visitors to offer short tours and offer their expertise. Beautiful view. We did the Miners Museum 8km away in the morning, had lunch, then did Marconi. Hit the Fossil Centre after lunch, all at a nice easy pace.

Russell Kendall

Very historical

(Translated) Very small but interesting. Half an hour is enough to go around. (Original) Très petit mais intéressant. Une demi-heure est suffisante pour en faire le tour.

The wind was blowing a storm off the Atlantic, it was after the season so the building was closed and it was great! Got a real feeling what Marconi and company must have experienced.

Jaden Shah

Could not be more positive about this place. Hell of a time I kid you not, I caught 2 tilapia. Couldn't believe it I will eat for weeks. I got a nice shot of the museum entrance as I was walking up. The radio tower was spot on probably the largest I've seen in days. Also included is the fishing spot where I caught the tilapia

Brian Capstick

Free admission. Nice display. Walking trail with great views of the Atlantic Ocean and Glace Bay harbour. 30 to 60 minutes should cover everything nicely.

Arathi Seshadri

It's a neat piece of history, however the center does not open until July 1. You can still look over the bluffs and they do have some placards explaining the history.

Salma Burney

Do not go! It's boarded up and even the outside signs explaining a stone outside are gone. Can the Nova Scotia Government please update this site and say it's CLOSED!? No hours needed.

Yuval Bitan

Small exhibition but important site

Ben Bates

A great little museum on the site of one of Marconi's original tower sites. The plaques are interesting and the view is great! The place is a bit out of the way for visitors to Cape Breton; but it would be a great addition to a museum tour paired with the coal miners museum.

Kelly Beamsley

A great little museum to learn about Marconi.

The location is historically important. Radio transmitter across the Atlantic. Not much to see though. A building with pictures.

Loved our stop here. The ocean view is spectacular! The old antenna base is still there. Inside there is historic timeline of the trans Atlantic communication. Worth the stop if you like historical points.

Enjoyed the history

This place is closed, but the cliff is nice and there was a cute Kitty my wife got to play with.

Mike Corrigan

The museum will open on Canada Day (July 1st). No interior pictures. The location provides a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and off in the distance is Scatari Island. On the waters edge some steep and rugged cliffs add to the natural beauty. Watch as the small fishing vessels enter Glace Bay Harbour.

Jenn Tuthill

It's closed until July 2018

Luciano Bragagnolo

It was closed but was nice tobe at such an historic place.

Fred Kerr

Very historic place sadly the 2 young girls working inside the small exhibit hall are afraid to whisper a word to anyone entering..Hopefully they will see this And be a little bit more people friendly in the future.

Joe Steffler

Would have been nice to know it is closed until July 1 before driving there

Mandy Olsen

Stunning views of the ocean. Interesting displays of Marconi's work.

A national landmark, if you dont visit, research it. The land around is rugged and beautiful.

Beautiful views and interesting history. Who could ask for more?

Clarence Whynot

My wife and I were here in mid-August. The displays were interesting enough, but the young female Parks Canada employee couldn't be less engaged. She was reading her book and barely looked up when we entered, not bothering to greet us or ask if we had any questions. The washrooms were not very clean, especially during the COVID-19 crisis, and given that the facility was not busy at all. It's not like the staffer had too much to do to keep the washroom maintained.

Hal MacLean

Easy to follow staff didn't say anything

Martin Kelly

Other than the visitor centre there's not much to see here. Great views but with the original Marconi buildings being torn down there really is only a very good but short video. At least the site in Cornwall is still around

When you see the exhibit you will u understand how amazing Marconi was.

This is a really neat historical location. The displays were overall well done and easy to read. The location itself is a bit small and some displays need maintenance but it was j retesting non the less. The staff were helpful with regards to questions about the local area. The outside of the building has some good scenary and is worth a quick walk! Parking is sufficient for the traffic flow to the area.

A big experience packed into a small building
