Honestly, the best dentist I’ve ever been to, and I was born with some messed up teeth so I’ve been to quite a number. The staff are all friendly and seem to be great at their jobs. They have the computers set up so I could look at my X-rays as they came in which was neat. maybe it’s just that dental technology has come a long way in the decade [oops] since I’ve been to a dentist but all their equipment was great and as comfortable as can be expected. The dentist took one look at my X-rays and basically Sherlock Holmesed me, told me all about the pop in my jaw and my sinus congestion, the guy knows his stuff, and the technicians and hygienists too gave me good information that went deeper than just “brush and floss” but into what to look for and how to improve. I honestly learned a lot about teeth. It sounds like wait times can be a problem like with every medical clinic in town but they got me in for a new patient first appointment within a few weeks of my call and thanks to some cancellations I was in the next day for a cleaning and I’ll have my cavities looked at by the end of the month. For contrast I called another clinic back in February once my insurance came through and that appointment ended up being for September. I shouldn’t even tell you about this place because It’s going to make appointments harder to get but I am, because I care about you.

We are so pleased with every experience we’ve had with Alaska Avenue Dental. All the different hygienists and assistants we’ve seen over the last 8 or so years have been great. Nicole who looks after treatment options and planning is also super great. The reception staff too, always so friendly and very accommodating to us living out of town. And Dr. Shih is just the best. Very kind and gentle demeanour, very informative and easy to understand, always great about providing and explaining every option, explaining every treatment and answering all my questions so well. Fantastic clinic! Clean and very up to date equipment. The manager fit me in on a moments notice ( I was not a regular patient, my dentist was out of town). The hygienist and dentist were very personable and explained everything they were doing and why. The dentist was able to identify the issue and prescribed me medication which solved the problem within 24 hours of taking it. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone.

HUGE shoutout and thank you to Dr. Meyers and the staff at Alaska Avenue Dental Clinic. Long story short, I had a lot of mouth & head pain and ended up needing x2 separate emergency tooth extractions, one at the beginning of the week and one again today. The reception ladies that I talked to on the phone both time’s were polite and SO accommodating, they pulled some strings and got me in as soon as possible (which I am forever thankful for) & Dr Meyers is amazing. Excellent experience. I had been battling an infection since December and had already had a tooth pulled. I was in a lot of pain. I came to Alaska Avenue Dental Clinic to get a second opinion. The young dental technician treated me with great care and understanding and even volunteered to work over her lunch hour. They have amazing technology, an X-Ray machine that can take 360 degree x-rays and a large computer screen that I could view the x-rays (and watch Netflix) from the dental chair. Dr. Myers was able to show me that I had a second dead tooth that had not shown up on earlier x-rays. Dr. Myers drilled and drained the tooth and add a sanitizing agent to kill off any remaining bacteria. Unfortunately, by the second day the infection flared again with a vengeance. I live an hour away from Fort St. John. Dr. Myers called in a prescription for antibiotics to my local Pharmasave and then arranged to see me that day after hours. He along with the same dental technician, worked for two and a half hours to drain the infection that had progressed into my sinus. I won't go into detail about the procedure that Dr. Myers performed but I will say that it WORKED! Thank you so much!!!

Alrighty, I'm going to be brutally honest here - the dentist is still not my favourite place to be, BUT Alaska Avenue is hands-down the best dentist I've ever been to. Before Alaska Avenue, I was pretty close to needing sedation for the simplest of procedures; my fear and anxiety of needing to be in that chair was that bad. I would dig my nails into my palms hard enough to draw blood, to distract myself. At Alaska Avenue the hygienist and dentist care about your pain and your anxiety. They take time to explain procedures and give options. When I call the front desk they sound pleased to talk to me, and want to help. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the whole establishment. So while I wouldn't choose Alaska Avenue as a vacation destination, I no longer break into a cold sweat at the thought of dental work.

I'm very anxious at the dentist but Dr Meyers and Candice are so patient and helpful with my anxiety, and were also able to do several fillings with iv sedation. Let me tell you, that was awesome! I was still anxious coming in, and a few times during the procedure, but way less than usual! I also think I may have drifted off a few times, and the memory is very calm and dreamy. Definitely worth looking into if your anxiety has kept you away for too long!

They didn't force expensive treatment on me, but gave me my options and helped me choose the best plan for myself. The dentist herself was fantastic but what really struck me was the assistant. Love the text message notifications and reminders in a normal world, but now with the need for social distancing and more rigorous sanitation, Alaska Avenue Dental has knocked it out of the park. Their text service has changed with the times, has instructions on texting that you’re “here” and to wait in your car until you’re notified to come in. They send a Covid survey that you can fill out while you wait. They adhere to strict protocols for entering and leaving the building. They’ve always been amazing, with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere but they super-impressed me today. Thanks for the nice clean teeth and see you in 6 months!

I have always had bad experiences with dental offices in the past. So bad It was to the point I had to make it my new year’s resolution in 2016 to go see a dentist for what needed to be done, and on Tuesday, I had finally went in for an emergency appointment to pin point the source of a bad tooth ache I had been dealing with for over a year. I am so happy/relieved to have chosen to go to Alaska Avenue Dental Clinic Not only did they get me in that morning, they had me come back in later on that day to have it taken care of. My dental assistant was outstanding, she was very patient and very kind, the appointment coordinator went above and beyond for me, even going as far as giving me Nicorette mints because I wasn’t able to smoke after my appointment. The Dentist was so understanding and kind, he was thorough with explaining what is needed and what my best options are, He didn’t push for expensive treatment and started building the most affordable plan based on my income. Even the receptionists at the front desk where equally as friendly and understanding, the one lady I dealt with heard what I had to say and then bent over backwards to accommodate me when I had explained I had a high levels of anxiety over the procedure needing to be done. Needless to say I was an emotional mess that day and the team as a whole put me at ease, and when I went back in for my 2 p.m appointment that day. I wasn’t scared anymore. All over, it was such a uplifting experience for me. Thank you to the whole team that made this ordeal so positive! I can’t put into words how good it felt to have woken up this morning and not be in pain or rushing to take a handful of pain killers. I know it only gets better from here

I was needlessly anxious about my appointments after not having adequate dental for a few years while working overseas...Dr. Sidhu, the technicians, and the hygienist were all highly skilled and gentle, and altered their approach to make sure that I was comfortable (eg. using hot water to clean sensitive teeth). The reception team is wonderful, and I could tell I was in good hands from the moment I walked in the door. I learned new things about dental care (did you know you shouldn’t rinse for a half hour after brushing with Sensodyne??) and felt like everyone in the office genuinely cared about my health. Huge thanks to all. I highly recommend them!

Staff is always friendly and excellent service, though Im a bit disappointed that the mask policy didn't seem to be enforced, as a patient was let through without wearing one, only excuse as he put it was "reasons", and without giving a actual medical reason or exemption. As a patient, it made me uncomfortable knowing not everyone is wearing a mask without a legit reason to not wear one other than being difficult and childish. Other than that 10/10

It’s so nice to have gentle dental care. Like a lot of people I have a little dread of the routine checkup and cleaning but the hygienists here are so kind and gentle and reassuring it has been great. I asked how come they are so gentle compared to everywhere else and was told that they have been given enough time in their schedules to not be rushed and it’s basically that simple. This makes for a zero stress experience. There is also no upsell pressure, just a professional explanation of your options. I’m really glad I landed at this place.

Wow, the renovations have come along real nice. There is now an enclosed entry to keep the cold out, a coffee/tea station with water cooler, a play area for kids and an attractive reception desk. The staff is always sweet and we are pleased with the service we have received.

I have really bad anxiety when it comes to needles and I recently just went to Dr. Shih for a quick filling and it was an amazing experience. She was quick and efficient, and explained what she was doing the whole time. She made sure I was comfortable and I will definitely be back.

I had a terrible toothache on the long weekend and I drove to FSJ on Tuesday morning hoping to get in at Alaska Avenue Dental. They squeezed me in and Dr. Meyers ended up doing a partial root canal. I was working out of town on location and spent a sleepless night with a terrible toothache. Got released from work for the afternoon ( there are angels watching over me! ) , called AADC, and they fit me in at 2 that same day. I had this nasty infection. Within the hour I was painless and minus 2 molars lol. The staff are smiling, empathetic, knowledgeable ,professional and all around fabulous! Although I sure hope never to need their emergency services again, I would most definitely highly recommend you visit them for all your dental hygiene needs. They're all Rock Stars in there!

Dr.Shih is amazing! I went for my exam today and she said despite how long its been since I last saw any dentist that my teeth are still very healthy. She went over all my xray images in full detail, and made sure everything made sense. I was so scared to go in today, but the energy in this office made me feel calm and at ease 100%. As it being an Emergency appointment and on top of it being family day, Dr Myers was able to get me in right away and get my tooth pulled fast and very efficiently!
