We were recommended Green Apple Landscaping when we were applying for a front yard parking permit for our property in Toronto. We worked with Andrea to come up with a landscape proposal that met both the requirements of the front yard parking bylaw and the visual aesthetic we were looking for. Where Green Apple differed from other companies was that they contacted the Right of Way Management Office to make sure their landscape proposal met the city bylaw. Peter was very helpful in helping us navigate the whole application process and was able to share with us his experience with front yard parking permit applications. When the city finally approved our proposal, Green Apple promptly scheduled in our project and the work was completed in a very timely manner. The crew was professional, friendly, efficient and did an excellent clean up after each work day. Peter followed up with us to ensure that everything was going well. Andrea also worked with us to select plants for our garden and kept in mind our request for a low maintenance garden. We are very happy with our new front deck, garden and paved front yard parking pad.

Front and back Yard landscaping Our initial thoughts on the project were to redo the deck and then work on the landscaping separately. But after a looking at a couple of companies we decide to hire one company to do the entire project. This is where Green Apple landscaping came in. We hired Peter and his team to landscape our front and back yard along with redesigning the deck. His team worked closely with us right from the design phase to the installation. April worked on the layout; she kept all our concerns and questions in mind when coming up with the plant choices and design. Victor and Simon who did the landscaping were prompt, detail oriented and always took care to clean up the site every evening. My main criteria behind hiring a professional to get the job done were met: The job was started on time, finished on time, came in on budget and more importantly the after sales service has been great. We recently used Green Apple Landscaping for a complete back yard transformation. We are absolutely delighted with the end result and would highly recommend Green Apple for the following 3 reasons: 1) COST -- We found the cost to be very reasonable, but more importantly transparent. We don't mind paying more for certain things that are important: great design (see further below), structural longevity and high quality materials. From the initial design phase and through every step, we had conversations with the knowledgeable Green Apple team to understand the alternatives and make the best informed choice. This distinguishes the average from the exceptional; we feel that Green Apple had the knowledge to know all the options along the cost spectrum and provide us with the information necessary to make our own decisions. We always felt we had choices in terms of prioritizing our spend. 2) GREAT DESIGN -- We have a very small city backyard that needs to serve multiple purposes. We had to have storage for a motorcycle and all the corresponding technical requirements involved in maneuvering a large piece of machinery through a tight space. We subscribe to an alfresco beach aesthetic, which is a fancy way to say we really wanted to maximize our green space. We had several quotes and numerous discussions with other landscapers to discuss our vision. Green Apple won us over with their focus on form and function. They were the only company to invest the time to take exacting measurements of our bicycles, patio furniture and BBQ, to look at the property from all sight lines and to have detailed conversations about the plants that we liked. The result is they have created a space for us that fully fits all our needs and our lifestyle. 3) QUALTIY -- We feel that people who are passionate about what they do are the best kind of people. Green Apple fosters that passion in everyone who works there. Their people do the right thing just because it is the right thing to do. This comes through in the way they treat the job site as their own as well as the companies they select to deal with. The result is attention to every detail and high quality throughout. If any of these elements are important to you, you cannot go wrong with Green Apple.

Peter and his team did a complete teardown and rebuild of our backyard (a Toronto semi) over a couple of months in 2020, installing two new fences with gates, two new decks, a stone patio with natural gas fire pit, and fresh landscaping. From consultation, to design, to planning and construction, the whole process was seamless and professional. My wife and I have demanding jobs and appreciated Peter and Simon's approach to managing issues and changes with the project, never bringing us problems for which they hadn't already developed solution options. Peter at Green Apple was that "right guy". Peter's customer service centric approach made every major or minor change/challenge to the our project an smooth and easy one. He is transparent, honest, and attentive. His crew is professional, knowledgeable, and very hard working. Simon, the foreman, is a very smart man. Simon is able to identify issues and problems ahead of time. And Simon will consult with others before adjusting the project plan/work accordingly. This is a solid team. Fred, the designer at Green Apple was able to come up with a plan that was the "right price". Green Apple's quote not the cheapest quote I received, but their pricing seemed very fair for the scope of work that was delivered. I much appreciated the times that Peter pointed out opportunities/options to save a few bucks by suggesting a different approach or materials. As for "right timing", well, we were lucky. Green Apple had time/capacity and the COVID restrictions were just lifted for landscaping. Our project was finished on time and on budget by Green Apple. Scope of work included, new landscaping of front and backyard, concrete walkways, stepping stone walkways, asphalt driveway, cedar fencing, chainlink fencing, tree/stump removal, soak-away french drain system.

We had a very, very large project done at our home consisting of complete front and back landscape overhaul including a shed and a new deck, and I could not be happier with the results! We used Green Apple for two projects at our north Toronto home. The first was a smaller project: building a parking pad and doing some front yard landscaping. The second was a much bigger project: a complete demolition and redesign of our backyard. We were extremely happy with the first project that Green Apple did for us so we didn’t think twice about retaining them for the second project. Our backyard presented more than a few challenges, the biggest of which was the fact that it contained an almost 45 degree slope. Green Apple came up with a design that was both practical and beautiful. They took the time to do things right the first time. No corners were cut. Peter’s crew was amazing. They were always available to address our concerns and they came to us immediately when unforeseen issues arose. And on a project as big as ours there were more than a few such issues. But each issue was presented to us with multiple solutions such that there was minimal impact to the budget, the timeline and the overall aesthetic of the finished product. We trusted them to create a functional and visually attractive “home-scape” which consisted of complete front and backyard landscaping with lighting elements, new interlocking brick pathways and backyard patio, a new gazebo with insect/sun protection, partial yard enclosure with cedar fencing (including a sliding door for driveway access), extensive planting, readiness for an irrigation system, a new patch of sod, and the creation of a gorgeous brick and wood front-yard focal point demi-wall …. and the final result exceeded our expectations tenfold!! Our results were on time, on budget, and on point! Friends, neighbours, kids on their way to school, and even the odd passer-by will express their joy with our freshened-up yard, improved curb appeal, creative garden additions, and new entertaining spaces. As a family, we smile just looking at it, and beam being amongst the design elements. It’s fabulous! Suffice to say, we are very confident in both the quality and the durability of the work and would highly recommend Green Apple Landscaping for ANY outdoor task given … they are THAT AWESOME!

I have never written a review, good or bad before, but after having Green Apple complete front and back yard landscaping for us, I thought it was important to share my experience. We had previously had flooding in our basement twice and right away when Fred arrived (the designer) he commented we had a grading issue. Grading and basement flood prevention were important to us and Fred's plans emphasized that as well. The implementation of the plan was left to Simon the foreman. Simon was one of the hardest working individuals I have ever met. He was also meticulous and very detailed oriented. The crew did a fantastic job cleaning up every night. Even the neighbours were complimentary of their work and how clean they left the site each night. With the input of Peter (the owner) and Simon, a few changes to the plan were made along the way which is normal for such a large project. At the end of the day after about 6 weeks, our place looks amazing. Looking forward to using it more next summer.

We hired Green Apple to do the landscaping around our house, including a front and side walkway, driveway, back patio, planting and porch and are thrilled with Green Apple and the results. What a life saver! It turns out that the house I bought did not have a legal City of Toronto parking spot. To make matters even worse, we had a medium sized tree (and associated tree protection zone) that made it almost impossible to carve out a compliant parking spot. Peter and his team were able to guide us through the process of getting the right paperwork in front of the right city departments (Urban Forestry, Parking Enforcement, and more), and came up with a beautiful landscaping plan that respected the TPZ and satisfied all of the city's other requirements as well. Would highly recommend as a landscaper in general, and can't imagine anyone better if you're trying to work within City of Toronto restrictions to get parking approved (in the wards where it is legal).
