In 2017, we downsized to a 30- year old townhouse. The layout and size were perfect for us but the unit needed a major renovation. The bathrooms had been renovated recently and were quite attractive but the rest was 1980’s. We had a very good idea of what we wanted but the trick was to find the right person for us. A friend of ours who designs kitchens, who is extremely picky on doing only excellent work and who had done two kitchens for us before, introduced us to Adrian as most competent kitchen installer he had ever worked with. So we met Adrian for him to install a new kitchen in our town house. We connected well with Adrian and discovered that we had much in common. I learned that Adrian was a graduate architect from my alma mater. This new knowledge of course lead us to talk about the renovation of our unit. With Adrian’s design expertise and professional workmanship, he built for us a great modern town house. One special thing about Adrian during the renovation is that we could always consult Adrian and bounce ideas.

Adrian has done two renovation projects for us. The first was a 200+ sq ft cork floor installed in the kitchen nearing the end of a major renovation in 2007. It went in quickly and looked absolutely fabulous when finished. It has stood the test of time and still looks like new. The second project was a complete makeover of a large (9 ft X 11 ft) ensuite bathroom. The project included a complete glass wall walk-in shower, heated floor, tiled floor and shower, new code plumbing and working around an already in place soaker tub. Adrian is meticulous in all aspects of his design and work. We would highly recommend him without hesitation.

Adrian at Atelier delivers. From architectural concept through construction he renovated a 1960’s Gulf Island awkward cottage to a beautifully updated accessible home. On a 1927 era home he took over and completed a bathroom reno that was previously a disaster, pinned the foundation, repaired beetle infested beams and posts, re-built stairs, and many other projects required to maintain an old home. Throughout Adrian proved his knowledge and is a pleasure to work with.

When we started contemplating a renovation of our en-suite, the only design/contractor we considered was Adrian at Atelier Design Build. He had completed a wonderful upgrade to our kitchen 4 years previously, and we were totally satisfied with the end product. We had total trust and confidence in Adrian, so we embarked on a five week holiday, and left the en-suite reno to Adrian. He removed a square fibreglass shower stall, and replaced it with a 43 inch round corner shower with tile walls. He replaced the tile around the garden bathtub, new floor tile with heated floors, new light fixtures over the vanity, two pot lamps over the shower and bathtub. He replaced the existing vanity doors and added new hardware, and installed digital timer controls for the jacuzzi and ceiling fan. He also installed a bidet on the toilet that required running a hot water line to the back of the toilet. We were delighted with the final product, and as with the kitchen reno, his workmanship was excellent. As a result of our recommendations, Adrian has undertaken significant renovations to another unit in our townhouse complex, and has done several renovations to the home of close friends. I know both parties were exceedingly happy with the quality of Adrians projects. We would not hesitate to have Adrian complete our next renovation project, whatever it might be.

We have had Adrian do a number of projects for us over the past 10 years. He worked with us to re-design our house in preparation for a major renovation. Adrian was always great to work with - he listens to clients carefully and has thoughtful and creative ideas. We are still thrilled with the outcome. Our only regret is that he was across the country for the period of our renovation an couldn't take the renovation project on himself. Adrian also replaced many of the old windows in the un-renovated part of our house over the past number of years. Again, attention to detail and quality are a hallmark of his work. We have had the opportunity to hire Adrian on three occasions regarding renovation projects around our home. We were very happy with the final result of our upstair bathroom which did involve an open shower, intricate tiles pattern on walls and flour, vaulted ceiling, and new skylight. He did also assist us in the initial planning of our kitchen and dining room renovation. Adrian took the time to understand how we wanted to use the space, to bounce ideas back and forth, and made creative and insightful design suggestions. As an avid cook the kitchen is a joy to work in, with a fantastic layout and small details that make the whole space work.
