With local suppliers like this I don't have to be running to Sudbury or the Saulte for my renovation materials. Don't buy here if you expect people to be true to their word or if you expect management to hold themselves accountable. I pre-ordered $1600 of lumber on Wednesday to be delivered first thing Friday morning. I was reassured that the truck would be loaded Thursday night and would leave the yard at opening time. Debbie checked with delivery staff to confirm. Friday at 9:00 there was still no delivery. I drove to the yard to pick up some odds and ends I needed for the job and asked about the status of my delivery. I quietly took the store clerk aside and expressed my disappointment. He checked the yard and assured me that the order was picked and would be loaded next. At 10:45 I called and asked for the manager. Nancy tried to deflect her responsibilities by blaming Debbie for making an unrealistic promise. I told Nancy that I heard Debbie mske sure with the delivery staff. I can't excuse this shoddy customer service.

Soo Mill has the best prices in Elliot Lake for building supplies. Without being specific, you will find that a majority of items at Soo Mill are half the price of the same items at Rona. I would chalk the price difference up to Rona pricing items at the national average but this is pure speculation as I have never investigated this. Regardless, you will find many items at Soo Mill for half the price. The Staff at Soo Mill are the most helpful and friendly bunch of people you will encounter. They are well organized and quite knowledgeable which is a plus for the first time DIY home owner. The staff will diligently go out of their way to make sure you have the right materials for the job. I recommend you visit Rona and Soo Mill so that you can see first hand that Soo Mill excels above and beyond.

We have had nothing but excellent service from Soo Mill. We are building a cottage in the Elliot Lake area, and the Soo Mill team in Elliot Lake has been extremely accommodating and helpful. From our experience, they offer fair prices (in many cases, better prices than we can find at the bigger hardware chain stores in southern Ontario). Nancy has always been great to deal with. She provides personal service, often exceeding our customer service expectations. Plus, she has a lovely, cheerful personality. Very satisfied with Soo Mill!
