I visited this place today was lovely and got what I wanted .....but did notice a couple going around without a mask on... I know its difficult to force this rule but I did feel very uncomfortable especially as we are trying to stay safe from this terrible virus ...it does say at entry wear a mask too bad some people think they are invincible!!!!!!!!

This is a great place to come for all your gardening dreams. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a huge selection of various kinds and colours of plants to delight everyone. Can't wait till spring when I can spend time searching thru all the plants, trees, seeds, and bulbs available. Definitely a place to go.

Where to begin with describing our experience with Farmgate... abysmal would be an effective start. A family member purchased 5 plants from them for us; 3 cedars and 2 rose of sharons. The staff sold these and facilitated their planting in the fall (late-October), without any caution about the suitability of the planting season. Come spring, one of the three cedars was browning and looking in rough shape. Some research led us to fertilizer (30-10-10) to help young cedars recover and establish. Thrashers Garden Centre agreed that this was an appropriate measure and that we should follow the directions on the container. Unfortunately, the one cedar didn't respond well to the treatment and we followed up with Farmgate. At first, Catherine was positive and endorsed our regime of fertilizing, suggesting that we give it some more time to see if the cedar recovers, as they had prematurely replaced trees in the past. Further, she said that they shouldn't have been planted in the fall, despite this not being mentioned at the time of purchase and planting. After more time passed without success, we sent photos and John responded tersely, saying that they only offer a 30-day warranty and that we could purchase another tree from them, but that they wouldn't do anything else. Their customer service is abysmal. Catherine was dismissive when our family member tried contacting her, talking over them, as well and also outright lying that she had told us what to do and that we were unwilling to follow her directions. Our neighbour had also purchased a tree from Farmgate and is meticulous with his garden. Similarly, when this spring rolled around, the tree was struggling and he approached it with fertilizer and attempts to save it. He went through the same terrible process with Farmgate, where he was told that he maybe didn't water it enough and when he revealed the watering was adequate, they said maybe he over-watered. He was told to bring in photos only for Farmgate to refuse to replace his tree. Neither one of us will ever go back or recommend Farmgate. It's a miracle that they're still in business with how terrible their service is and their stubborn refusal to stand behind their products. Dealing with Farmgate has been a horrible experience. In the future, we'll be trying Connon Nurseries, who offer a reasonable warranty on "most of the plants [they] grow and sell".
