You can tell that everyone here from the Doctors to the Support staff has such a great sense of dedication to eye health. Bonus marks for having a good sense of humour as well. I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly father, Peter Pelz. He had a wonderful eye exam experience with Dr. Chelsea Gerlitz on March 11, 2020. She treated my dad very respectfully and answered all of the questions that he had. The issue however, my dad had, was the treatment he received from the Front Office Staff. He was shown to the reception area, where he was offered PROGRESSIVE LENSES. My dad thought that Progressive lenses would be a good fit for him. (He has NEVER worn progressive lenses before, and was not educated on how they work.). It was explained to my dad that it would take some time for him to get used to wearing the progressive lenses. My Dad has tried to wear the progressive lenses now, for TWO MONTHS, but to no avail! My dad is unable to read with the glasses, has suffered serious bouts of dizziness and found it impossible to drive while wearing the glasses. He went back to the office and explained his situation, and the fact that he was very unhappy with the progressive lenses. The staff respected my dad's requests and answered all of his questions. The office has now given my dad two pairs of glasses-one set for reading and the other set for distance. Unfortunately, no refunds were offered to him and he is out $1000 for everything. The lenses and frames are overpriced.

I saw Chelsea Gerlitz for the first time. She was just lovely. I don't think anyone enjoys going for eye exams but she was very pleasant. I was kind of shocked as to how much the eye drops were. I am a senior on a very fixed income so it was difficult to have to pay out $53.00 for eye drops but other than that, it was a good experience.

I had spoken to Megan a few times before going in for my app't with Dr Gerlitz , (who I had seen in Airdrie previously. ) She was just as she was on the phone, a very sweet person. I enjoyed my conversation with her. All the staff is amazing . Dr Gerlitz was, as per usual, very welcoming and so very cheerful . We had a few good chuckles before , during and after my eye examination . I may have even got her to switch to Waze for her GPS ????

Dr. Brent Hopfauf is an outstanding optometrist. He's been taking care of my eyes for about 3-4 years after taking over the business from my previous optometrist. He's never satisfied with doing an "okay" examination. My pupils don't dilate much, so after doing his first examination, he wasn't satisfied with the pictures or his own personal checks. So he applied some drops to dilate my pupils, and then re-did the whole thing. That gives me great confidence that I'm getting top-class care, something which is vitally important to me because I have only 1 good eye. If you're looking for a good optometrist, I would strongly recommend Dr. Hopfauf...you won't be disappointed.

They also have the best in updated technology for their eye exams. Lastly, they have a great selection of reasonably-priced glasses and really pay attention to get the best fit. Was not impressed with frame selection or their prices, seems way overpriced. Lenscrafters has WAY better selection and what appears to be friendlier staff when I went. Won’t be going back here, look elsewhere for eyecare needs. Also, superstores eye exam fees are much more affordable!

I’m not normally an individual to write reviews but I think Calgary Family Eye Doctors deserves recognition and praise. From the moment I stepped in, Carla was going out of her way to make sure I was looked after even while she was helping another client at the same time. I felt welcomed immediately, and you couldn’t ask for a cleaner, more comfortable environment. I went in an hour early to snoop around for frames, and the selection was fantastic, catering to all styles and budgets; very competitive to other providers I researched online. I was taken in for my appointment half an hour early which was a very pleasant surprise. Julie took me through the initial part of the exam with VERY up to date technology and was just as friendly and warm as Carla was. She led me into Dr. Franco’s office where all of my questions, quips, queries, comments and conundrums were addressed, and felt very carefully examined which was great. Not to mention she has a great sense of humour. The cost of exams may be a little bit higher, but you’re getting what you pay for, and you can bet that I won’t be going anywhere else for as long as I can see. (Pun intended) Thanks again ladies!

She took into account not only his vision and genetic history, but also his overall health. She took time to talk to us and didn’t rush us through. IMHO, there are no better Eye Doctors in the city than Dr. Gerlitz and Dr. Hopfauf. I am recovering from such a nasty viral eye infection and they took such amazing care of me. Throughout this whole ordeal they have been so diligent and thorough in the treatment and follow up, I honestly can't thank them enough. Dr. Hopfauf even called me at home a couple times to check up on me. I appreciate their kindness and expertise and thinking out of the box to get me through this. From routine eye checkups to more problematic issues these two are the best. My husband is also a satisfied customer and through regular screening, Dr. Gerlitz recognized the need for him to go to Mitchell eye clinic for some specialized treatments which turns out is an important factor for him to maintain his eye health. Finally, there is their amazing front end staff and assistants - every one of them is kind, happy and helpful. I generally am not a review writing person, but this clinic deserves the praise and I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else now.

Amazing experience. My husband and I had an appointment with Dr Gerlitz. The receptionists were extremely cheerful and helpful. The blonde lady who managed the machines was lovely and enthusiastic. Dr. Gerlitz was knowledgeable, she explained everything and treated us well. She even managed to test my baby's eyesight even though we did not have an appointment for him. The lady with red hair who assisted me with glasses knew where all the frames were and was very efficient with insurance. Amazing experience! Highly recommend them to families.

Wow, the experience in attending this practice vs attending the big box practices in the mall was amazing. The staff respected my requests and answered all of my questions. The explanations they provided were thorough and I learned more about my eyes and eye conditions from the attending optometrist than from my eye specialist! The staff was cheerful, pleasant to speak with and at no time did I feel that they were bored with my questions nor that they were rushing me. On top of that, the cost of my new glasses, lenses and frames was less than at the big box chain for definitely better quality lenses and fun frame!! Thank you, Calgary Family Eye Doctors.
