I enjoyed eating the fries, they were unsalted but ketchup compliments it well. The fish however is more batter than fish. The food was fresh and the place is clean, I was just unhappy that I was eating more batter than fish.

Came here yesterday with one of my friends in the area. Ordered the lunch special fish and chips. Got some coleslaw and gravy on the side. Total for the order was less than $10. Portion was good and food was tasty. Coleslaw and gravy both tasted good as well. Would definitely recommend!!!

The resturant is really dirty. Like it hasnt been swept down or wipped the front entrance was scattered with flyers and the floor was really dirty. All table condiment bottles and shakers were greasy and mostly empty. The tartar sauce bottles should not be left out on the tables they need to be refrigerated. Ordered two lunch specials and a side of shrimp. 5.95 for the shrimp, I got 6. The haddock was literally dripping with oil. The fryer was obviously not hot enough. This place needs a scrub down big time, I would not recommend.

The fish was small and was covered in big batter so it looked like you are getting normal size fish. I had ordered 4 fish n chips but all the fish were small and the batter puffed it up. Very disappointed. The old owners were doing a better job.

The restaurant gets 1 star because while the fish and chips are really good, the cheap, chilled and overly sweet red wine delivered in frosted - and as it turns out dirty - wine glasses and decanter, and the dirty vinegar containers and the numerous fruit flies (we were there December 1!), prevents me from giving even 2 stars. At first, when we got the wine we asked about the glasses, they looked dirty, the server said they’re just frosted. Well, by the time they warmed up, they were looking dirty. My husband brought one in to the washroom and cleaned it himself. The glasses were definitely dirty. So, while the prices were good, and the fish and chips were also good, overall it wasn’t a positive experience. I would have liked coleslaw included but it was a separate cost.

I've been going here since I was a teenager in high school. I still regard it as my all time favourite place for fish and chips. I've tried others but nothing has come close. Fish is crispy, fries are good and the tartar sauce they use is my favourite due to its sweetness. It's a family run business that has never let me down. The service is also great and I've never been disappointed!

This place used to be a family favourite- we'd grab take out at least once a month! Unfortunately, I'm removing Homestyle from my go-to list. My boyfriend and I ordered two basa and chips dinner specials, a clam chowder and a medium gravy. While the fish and chips were good (large portions, crispy batter, fresh ingredients), the clam chowder was watery and gritty. The clams themselves had a rubbery texture while the chowder had more potato than cream. The gravy was rather thin compared to what it used to be. If you visit this location, stay away from the clam chowder (and the bottled tartar sauce. Use the packets!)

It's not bad. This spot actually used to be my favorite spot for fish and chips in Mississauga because the deals were so unbelievably priced and the fries were addictive. I think the fact that the store owners know the regulars by name attests to the longstanding reputation of quality. Even after ownership changed it was still pretty good, but lately it feels like there are some problems with consistency. On my last visit the fries were undercooked and a little anemic and the fish portions definitely feel like they shrunk, which then of course leads to the fish tasting overcooked and feeling over-battered. All said and done, the value from the lunch deals are still pretty great and this is gonna continue to be my fish and chips spot until something better pops up.

I’ve been coming here regularly for about two years now because of its great service and great food. I come in with my family and my friends and each time we get amazing service. It’s fast and cooked well. It gets very busy on fridays but it’s worth the short wait. The owners are very friendly, the food is reasonably priced and they have a wide variety of sides. I strongly suggest trying this place out because you’ll surely become a regular. Enjoy!

I was a loyal customer for over six (6) years. I use to go once to twice a week but since new owner only 1-2 times per monthThe old owner was very nice and always provided pre-ordered food promptly. This new owner is rude, unprofessional and complete disgrace. I will never go back there EVER! I diligently order and I am told it will be ready in 10 minutes. I then show up 15-20 minutes later and it STILL is not ready and then they have the temerity to serve other customers that ordered 20 minutes after me first! Then, they swear at me for legitimately complaining. All of the other negative reviews about smaller portions than previous owner are true and unsanitary conditions are also true too.

I've been coming to Homestyle Fish and Chips for 26 years. The shop has changed hands about 3 times but the quality of food is still consistently good. Not greasy at all. Freshly store cut potatoes for their fries. Usually not too busy, but definitely lunch time has a fair amount of customers. I order the “Two and a few” halibut which is a smaller version with less fries and is still a fairly generous portion. The only thing I miss is a fresh wedge of lemon. I would give it 5 stars if they had that. The coleslaw is more mayonnaise based, so don't ever order it as I prefer a more vinegar based coleslaw. Great fish and chips what more can I say. They have the crispness right on the batter and the tenderness right on the fish. Their sauce is excellent (The PC tartar sauce packages). It’s incredible that such a good fish and chips place can exist in Mississauga. I’d say it’s almost on par with some of the places in Tobermory. There’s no greater disappointment when you go into a fish and chips place expecting crispy goodness and you get a limp soggy batter on a tough fish. You’re not gonna get that here. These guys got A+ crispness.

If it was the old owners, I’d give at least a 4/5. But since they’ve changed, my dad and I don’t even go anymore on occasion. We used to go weekly, he didn’t have to cook dinner, and it was better than eating at something like McDonald’s. However, once they changed, they got rid of the good servers, the fish always tasted off (and there wasn’t much in the batter) and I found small bones quite often. They also would take the tips, when given some, and split them amongst the servers AND owners, and therefore if we did tip, we’d make sure the server got it into his pocket. Portion sizes got smaller, and prices got slightly higher.

Mediocre at best. Some of the fishes tasted like over-fried chicken breast. Dry and tough. Mushy peas were horrible. Chips looks crispy but didn’t taste crispy. They seem to struggle with operations.

I really appreciate the affordable lunch special and the food is definitely better than getting McDonald's. I also recommend trying the gravy - its very beefy and pairs with the thick cut french fries excellently. I strongly recommend giving this place a try if you are craving Fish & Chips.

This place doesn't even deserve a one star. I took my family out there today and it was the most disappointing spot ever. The fish and chips were oily and there was 96% batter and 4% fish. The fries were over cooked and tasteless. I will never suggest this spot to anyone. Even though after complaining we were given another Haddock fish but that wasn't any better.

The food itself tasted decent, and the servers were friendly. However the fish was all breading and very little fish. To paint a picture; the fish was about a 1cm thick and there were pockets of air on either side, which is why they looked so big. The fries were decent, as was the poutine. For a place that only does fish and chips their fish was very subpar. I kind of expected more especially because of the high rating this place got and it got featured in InSauga. It was kind of a let down.

If you remember this fish and chips spot from the 90s it is not the same! The ownership and management changed and it is terrible now. I had it yesterday and my fish, fries and onion rings were well over cooked. The fish was dry and the batter was hard. What a waste of money!

Menu was good in that you could choose a few different options of fish and portions. Perhaps a few options they could add is a green type salad, and if ordering "family/group" menu add drinks in it, instead of making you pay separately..

Excellent Food as always, however a little scary tonight sign on door says 4 in store government rules and there was never fewer than 10 and line up outside door. Not the restaurants fault this is the people who just do not get the fight we are in or give a dam. Stay 6 feet apart and for the ones that just walk by everyone else you should be a shamed of yourself and you know who you are. It's people like you and sadly there is more of you than the people who follow the rules right now should be escort out reported and fined.

A little inconsistent... I've been here twice in the last 2 months... First time 5/5, second time 1/5. The second time the fries were darker in colour, meaning older frying oil and the fish was somewhat smaller than the first time

When I was there today picking up an order I witnessed the owner refuse a refund to another customer that had a piece of used mask in their food. This place use to be good under the former owners. Now it is disgusting to say the least.

I used to really enjoy the fish and chips here but since new owners took over, the quality has gone down from 5 stars. Was told that recipe is unchanged but I'm not too sure about that. Batter is very dry and fish is over cooked my last 2 visits there. Seems like they may be re-frying pre-prepared fish. Will not be going back.

food is decent but they are pretty stingy with the ketchup and tartar sauce, even have to ask for utensils and napkins everytime. they will take advantage of people who are new to fish n chips by not giving customers what they need to complete a good fish n chips meal. (vinegar, tartar, salt) Ive been here too many times and witnessed it happen to other ppl. they even tried to run the whole restaurant one day when they were out of tartar sauce

Homestyle Fish & Chips has been our go to place for so many years! It’s so tasty & the prices cannot be beat by any other Fish & Chips place in Mississauga! The staff is so friendly & the restaurant is so busy! I highly recommend ordering in advance for a pick up if you’re looking to try it out!! You won’t be disappointed!

Went there for the 3rd time since the new owners took over and something doesn't seem right, idk if they changed the potatoes, or the fish, or maybe the oil they fry in. There's a weird taste to the food and the service isn't the greatest, the girl that used to work for the previous owners who helped out with the table service isn't there anymore. Mind you, the prices are still reasonable but I won't be returning.
