We've been long term customers of College Electric since 1996. Over the years we've had installed new an electric furnace, two central air conditioning systems, air ducting, humidifier units, and over the years as equipment ages, some service calls to support these components. We are very satisfied 100% with their work and people sent to do the job. I recommend them to anyone looking for an electrical contractor. It seems though their service prices are rising since the new ownership. Two years ago it cost $316 to replace two $40 sequencers on the furnace, today it cost $455 to replace two more. That is getting pricey.

I'm doing a kitchen reno and didn't have enough space on my existing 100 amp panel for the new circuits. I called to inquire about adding a sub-panel to my existing service or possibly upgrading my service to 200 amp. Wayne got me to send him a photo of my panel. He called me back to tell me my panel contained older large breakers that could be replaced by newer smaller breakers and that I had lots of room on my panel. End result, though it cost him a service call, he provided me advice that will allow me to do the reno myself which I really appreciate. In the future, if I ever need any electrical work done, I will be sure to use College Electric.

I called this company to do a furnace AND fireplace inspection back in September (2018) and they gave me a quote for both and sent out the service guy. When the service guy came he went and did the furnace and that was fine and then came up to do the fireplace and said that he doesn't know how to fix them so they would need to send someone else out to do it. A week or so went by and then they contacted me and wanted to arrange the other guy (the one that knows fireplaces) out to inspect it and fix it. Ok fine....another day off work for this to happen. So he came out and did his thing and said that he needed to order a part and that he would have to come back when it came in. So now it's into October, and they called and made another appointment to come out and change the part. The day of the appointment they called and said that they had to reschedule cause the guy didn't come to work. So we rescheduled in the evening cause at this point I am not taking any more time off work. So the day of the rescheduled appointment came and once again they call to tell me that they have the wrong part and that we would need to reschedule again. I told them to call me when the right part came in and then we can reschedule. So now we are into November, and I email them to find out what is going on and they now tell me that they no longer work on fireplaces and that they will not be coming back out to finish the job. I'm sorry for the long winded review but I find this so unprofessional and would have given zero stars if I could.

We had an air conditioner installed by College Electric. They did an amazing job, they were very thorough and checked our entire HVAC system as well. The unit works great and all the work was completed quickly. When it had an issue a couple days after installation, Ron came out right away, even though it was a Sunday. I'd recommend them for anything electrical!

College Electric installed a brand new furnace for us on Friday and we are thrilled with it. So quiet compared to our old beast. They covered the entire floor with drop clothes, cleaned up everything when finished and were in general wonderful.

Great service. Rick was a very pleasant fellow and very helpful. Showed me how to fix a minor problem that would likely repeat itself. Report on furnace vitals was detailed and appreciated. Never had that kind of feedback in previous years with other furnace companies. Great price too.

i had my furnace inspected and was told one of the motors was not working well and would need to be replaced. they actually suggested the whole furnace at first which was only 8 years old. they told me it would cost 1200 dollars to replace the motor, a few months later i called them to do the job and set up an appointment. a few days before i lost my phone and emailed them about this as they would not be able to phone but that i would be home on the day of the appointment all day to wait for them to come. well they did not come on the day of the appointment. i went that evening to get a phone and called them first thing the next morning and asked why they did not come. the woman at first said they did come but i did not answer. BULL! i told i was home all day and no one came. then she said that she tried calling me several times and i told her that i had emailed the office through their website to tell them of the issue. she said they did not get it that there must have been some problem. i was very very mad because i felt lied to. she sent some one right away and he was here a total of 10 min.to install this motor. i really think i was scammed. furnace still makes clunking noise. 1200 dollars for 10min work and a lot of inconvenience to me. i will never use these guys again. they are not trustworthy and are over charging to rip people off. this is an update from my last review. in the last few weeks i have received 2 calls from this office. they now have a person that phones you and tells you it is time for your annual furnace check up. well the motor was supposedly installed not even 6 months ago. how is that annual? i asked the first time to take me off of their call list. i just received another call from them. i called back and again asked to be taken off of their call list. hope this time they listen.

Had our hot water tank, furnace and AC replaced as all were well past their expected service life. Have used College Electric in the past and have always found them to be honest and reasonably priced. Justin, Rob, Moe, Trent and Dave were all very friendly and professional. Answered any questions I had and did a great job. Would definitely recommend them.

I had my new furnace installed by College Electric. Great job guys. I would recommend this company to anyone. They are professional and reliable to say the least. Thanks.

We've been using College Electric for a number of years and till now have been satisfied with their work. Unfortunately they have recently discovered that they can make a lot more money by selling a new unit instead of repairing an old unit. We recently had a problem with our 20 year old A/C unit. The fan motor was making a loud noise. When the technician showed up, even before looking at the unit he was recommending a whole new A/C unit. We insisted that he first attempt to diagnose and fix the problem with the fan motor. He incorrectly diagnosed the problem as a fan motor failure and provided us with an outrageous price for a new fan motor. It was obvious that he wasn't interested in finding and fixing a minor problem - he was intent on selling us a whole new air conditioner, irrespective if we wanted or needed it. We declined and he left us with a $135.00 invoice for his "diagnosis", which in reality was nothing more than a high pressure sales pitch to install a new unit. We inspected the unit ourselves and found out that the fan blades had come loose from the motor shaft. There was nothing wrong with the motor. We fixed the loose fan blades ourselves in 10 minutes and the unit is working again. We attempted to discuss this matter with his manager, but his only explanation was that his company makes more money selling new units that fixing old units. We are very disappointed with College Electric. If they have no interest in fixing minor problems, why not say so over the phone, instead of charging us $135.00 for a high pressure sales pitch and an incorrect diagnosis.

Unable to rate at 0 stars or would have. Service person who came by was awesome. Repair was completed correctly. Customer service & phone interaction was friendly and thorough when booking call out. Fee charged was very heavily marked up, unfairly so. Furnace inducer fan ceased, resulting in furnace failing over night. I had diagnosed the problem and used a call out to confirm. I was not going to be able to wait until the following day to replace it. I was also unsure if I had the necessary tools available or if I would need to turn off my gas line to replace this part. College Electric charged $119 for a call out then $789 part and installation; the part would have cost $230 if I had purchased myself. Over $500 markup as "flat rate part and installation charge" is well beyond unacceptable for a repair that took the service person 15 minutes, including paperwork. They also attempted to up-sell me to replacing furnace over phone before call-out was made. Shop around (if time is on your side) before using College for HVAC/Furnace service.

Waited 2 weeks for my appointment only for them not to show up. I'd taken a day off work to wait for them. When called out on the no show, receptionist blamed me, and told me it'd be another 2 weeks before I could get another appointment. Not impressed in the least.
