Super fun and great! I was in Halifax for a short visit and got the opportunity to take a K-Pop and Hip-hop classes! The instructors are great but some things about the environment could be improved and that where it looses a star. The location is fantastic. The only thing is seeing the instructor running from side of the room to the other to press play when they need music, they loose time, clients loose time, and those little time lapses affect the learning process. Ideas: make it in some way that the sound booth (dj station, however you call it) is next to the instructor and not across the room OR get one other person ready to cue/stop music when needed, maybe a dancing student go to do it in exchange for some free classes. Just ideas - but will definitely stop there again next time in Halifax. Best success to you!

Absolutely in love with this place!!! I signed up for a hip hop class with Carolin and had so much fun!! She's got this addictive energy and such a great dancer / teacher! Rest of the staff is great as well - friendly and always willing to help. Great music, great atmosphere, great dancing. The ONLY thing I'd like to see is A/C put in somehow as it is stifling hot when the temp outside is up. Other than that it's great!

Great energy, lots of fun in every class I've attended! (10 so far) Personally, my favourite instructors are Allie and Carolin; every instructor has their unique style. It may be a bit challenging to keep up with the rate of teaching if completely new to dance, but the professional filming at the end is optional. No pressure to perform, just expect to get a good sweat on and have a great time! Intro offer is a great deal as well, two week unlimited - worthwhile if you can attend 4 or more classes.

My experience this month with House of Eights has been AWESOME! As a former dancer, I was nervous about trying a drop-in class after a 10 year break from dancing. The instructors are very helpful, and there are courses catered to dancers of all skill levels. Trying a progressive class out on a whim is definitely something I am happy I did. I’m looking forward to challenging myself with new and different styles of dance in the future. I would 12/10 recommend House of Eights to anyone who is interested in trying out something new, or for those who have found joy through dance and performance in the past.

Well I found a place where anyone can start and nobody is judged for being a beginner or not doing a perfect routine! It's so much fun and finally a motivating way to work out! Every class is new so you can just drop in whatever class fits your schedule and everyone will learn a new routine together. Definitely don't be scared to try it out!

I love coming here to dance!! Everyone is so welcoming, I officially just finished my first 5-class pass! I used this for 3 heels classes (1 from ChenLu, 2 from Kevin), and 2 contemporary jazz classes. I have never taken dance classes before, my only dance experience is a class I took for credit in high school! This is all new to me, and everyone is so helpful (teachers and fellow dancers alike) I would highly reccomend this dance studio. One thing that bothers me a little is that some beginner classes are not always geared towards beginners! They push you hard at this studio. My first class with ChenLu was 100% not beginner, and she said that in the beginning. I don't like that she didn't mention any of this online (instagram), because I would have chosen a different day to start, but oh well. Thanks so much to the memories already made, and many more to come!

I would not hesitate to recommend dancers to take classes from House of Eights. The instructors are highly skilled and are very enthusiastic. The space is absolutely gorgeous with large mirrors and windows, and a rustic feel. If you’re considering taking up dance, their intro special is very economical!

I’ve been to a few so far (Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced Heels) and I have loved them so much! Even the one that was clearly too advanced for me was a blast. Super fun place to either workout or work on your technique. They have a great selection of classes and instructors, but I’ve loved every one so I can’t choose a favourite. They also give the option to film at the end of each combo which is great performance experience and maybe even Instagram content.

It's a beautiful space, friendly instructors and always very fun choreography! The challenge level is pretty high - it's more like intermediate/advanced classes that beginners are welcome to join than truly beginner classes. Starting the class with improv in a contemporary class listed as beginner with mixed dancer levels? Intimidating. So it takes some bravery, but it's worth it.

I've been on the 2 week unlimited offer and have done 6 classes. In my experience I would say this is a studio more for people who take dance very seriously and have some experience behind them rather than adults looking for a new hobby, though there is the occasional very beginner course. On the whole the beginner classes are more towards intermediate, but the instructors are friendly and there is a positive vibe. Some of the classes have more knee-heavy floor work than my body can handle and my knees got very bruised after my first two classes! House of Eights know what they are doing and they do it well, I especially recommend beginner Jazz Funk and beginner Heels but that is my own personal preference! Great to have the opportunity to be in the performance style videos at the end and download the files to show friends and family (if you want to!). Sometimes it is hard to keep the 6ft distance during class, but the room is sanitized between classes and masks are mandatory in the foyer/waiting area. I wish there were more actually beginner classes and especially beginner contemporary!

I have talked about getting back into dance for ages, and I finally took the plunge with House of Eights. They had a great deal for first timers ($30 for two weeks of unlimited classes). After the first class I was hooked! It's always a very welcoming and positive environment. There are students of all levels of experience in dance and everyone seems to have a good time. I now have a monthly membership (which is still insanely well priced!). I have so far only attended classes by Kevin Lemieux: he is wonderful! Always encourages musicality and fun. Basically I've reconnected with my love of dance, and it's thanks to the great prices/schedules/options and positive vibes of House of Eights. 100 % recommend (I'm already trying to convince all of my friends to come to classes!)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOUSE OF EIGHTS!!! As a beginner, I was so afraid to feel out of place or uncomfortable but everyone is so nice and welcoming. The energy is AMAZING ???????? It has actually become my new happy place. They have so many different classes and instructors to choose from that every day is a new and fun experience! My favourite classes so far are Jazz Funk, K-Pop & Dancehall!!! OH & the new studio is just everything you need when you are dancing! I’m always looking forward to going there to unwind and have fun after a long day at work ❤️

House of Eights is a great place to learn dance in a fun, open, environment where, as someone who never took a dance class before, I felt welcomed from the first class. The instructors pay close attention to each attendees' level of understanding and pace the classes accordingly. The classes vary in structure so with each different style of class you can expect to be uniquely challenged. I can usually only go on the weekends, and Jonathan's beginner hip-hop class is always a high-energy blast, and he always mixes things to keep you engaged. It's a big contrast to hip-hop but I also love the beginner contemporary classes with Joshua; he teaches a mix of technique and routine that really helps to introduce you to an overview of the style.

House of Eights is definitely the studio that Halifax needs to expand its dance community! Bringing a perfect mix of international and local talent to dancers of all skill levels, this studio has already made me fall more in love with dance. Check this place out!
