Store is tidy and neat. Sale clothing items galore, the day we shopped there. Unfortunately, nothing that really tempted me to actually buy something! It was also a LOT quieter than how I remember Bay Days with my mom, many years ago. What fun we had then! The thrill of the bargain chase, with big crowds of bargain hunters !!???????? Very tame by comparison now.???? Service is also not what it use to be. No sales staff circulating, just waiting by the registers. If brick and mortar stores expect to survive the online competition they are up against, they MUST excel at serving customers. The Bay has slipped a lot in that regard. Probably won't bother shopping here again.

I always enjoy shopping at Hudson's Bay, especially when the service offered by the employee is up to its usual high standards. Sadly on this occasion it wasn't the case with one employee whom had given me direction earlier and was the same person who took my payment. I found her to be arrogant,disinterested impolite and impatient. At one point while taking my payment, discussing her personal life loudly and using foul language while doing so. Very disappointing and would not encourage me to recommend shopping ine the men's department on a Monday, when she is present.

I give up! Since La Baie opened the service has always been horrible. NO SERVICE. Employees are never at their station. If you need to find help look between the clothing racks. They’re normally hidding there chit chatting or playing on their cell phone. UPDATE: 2021-09-03 at 11:11 zero greeting from the staff. All had their head down and chatting to each other and seem reluctant to work… So I Went back today to look at shoes for my daughter. The employee at the cash was still counting her loose change for the cash register. It was 11:15 AM. I patiently waited until she was done before approaching her. When I ask her if you could help me check a size and availability of this shoe on the display, she told me she could NOT and inform me to go to the customer services counter for such inquiry. I was perplexed and questioned if it was normal that in the shoe department she could not verify on the computer the size and availability of a shoe. She brushed me off and encouraged me to see customer service because she really can’t do anything for me. I gave it another chance but now La Baie Lasalle never again!

The place is a mess. Good product selection but the store is cluttered with half-filled shelves whereas it could be more open and easier to find things if these were taken away and stock was combined. 9/10 times the staff are not helpful, pleasant but we have missed out on using our points card for about $600 of purchases over a few visits as they keep screwing it up and then can't do anything about it. This could be a fantastic store but it just seems a bit unloved and due 20 years of investment.

We shipped a dress from store to Montreal and did not receive within a month... Still they did not get it.. even we asked for refund they said it will take more than a month ... Which is unexpected!

So.. I bought a skirt for work and everything looked fine at first, but this is a returned skirt with a modified stitching. Meaning someone bought this stitched it then returned it. It's suppose to be a Calvin Klein product and I've already taken the tag off. Next time I'm going to an actual store because I do not trust hudson bay. Tried to shoe shop here on multiple occasions and have failed. Unfortunately you have to wait for an associate and they're never around, or if they are they aren't willing to help. Start carrying larger shoe sizes for women that aren't the "unisex" converse. Or find me another location that does and I'll go there. So disappointed.

Online shopping is terrible; I have worst experience of my life. Ordered a coffee machine for 700 CD, and received a pillow in the mail instead of a coffee machine. Anyway after wasting many hours and days issue was resolved. Erin mills is worst as compared to other locations. First of all, trying to call the store and speak to someone is impossible. None of the departments would answer the phone, and the manager’s mailbox is full. In person, asked an associate to help find an item in women’s clothing, was told I have to look for it myself. Cashier counters were unattended and no one to guide. Lady at shoe section was quite rude. Only associate at jewelry section was excellent and paid full attention, helped us in selecting and buying. That’s why I am giving 2 stars. Overall Disappointed.

Very poor, I purchased a channel perfume at the channel counter, the initial lady who helped me was very nice but when she was checking me out, a lady by the name of Fatima was confrontational with her. Fatima took over, completed my purchase, did not swipe my hbc points card even when I clearly placed it on the counter for her. When I asked for her to do it, she told me to do it online. I don't normally shop here, but I earned $75 in store credit through Samsung Pay promotions 3x $25 egift cards. Funny thing is their terminals are probably so outdated they don't even do tap & pay. Lol. I found it a bit difficult to find any deals & anything I wanted to spend my credit on, ended up overpaying for a few items, but it was basically free, so who cares.

Everyone knows the bay and they often offer very nice deals and promotions on key brands. The only problem is beware of the fine print, if an item is not of quality and it does not work you cannot return it after 30 days unless you paid using their master card.

Update: Next day we managed to replace the product in the store. The experience with this store was terrible. First it was really difficult to find an employee to show us the product. The light was dimming making just looking at products very hard and uncomfortable.Then after the purchasing the dinnerware set and get back home we discovered that 1 mug is heavily cracked and number of plates is totally wrong: in service for 8 we had 11 dessert plates and only 5 dinner plates. After that we were trying to call back to figure out how we can return or exchange the set bc it was on sale and the info on website wasn't clear. So we tried to reach china department for 1 hour but nobody picked up. when we tried to call another dept they picked up immediately. I wouldn't recommend to shop in this place, but if you take that risk check your purchases and ask if they are eligible for returns before leaving the store.

EVERYONE WHO SHOPS IN THIS STORE, BEWARE OF RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL SECURITY GUARDS. I am a customer of this store for more than 5 years. Never had any problems. Today I went through the biggest humiliation in my life in this store. I was shopping on the second floor of the Bay of the Yorkdale mall. I wanted to buy a jacket I saw on the rack of discounted items. I noticed there was no price tag attached so I approached to one of the cashiers, where the shop-girl told me to check the price at another cashier. I went to another one and was told again to go and check it somewhere else. I spent about half-an-hour, unsuccessfully trying to get the price from any of the store girls on the floor. Then I went one floor down with the jacket in my hands and approached to one of the ladies at register asking if she could help to find out the price. She sent me back to the second floor. Rather disappointed and tired still I decided to go back to the second floor, when I've got confused in the renovation area and stepped out of the store. When I realized myself that I actually left the store with the jacket I RETURNED back and found my way to the second floor. I finally was able to insist on getting a price for me and finally bought it. When I eventually left the store, there was this so called security guard without uniform, without any id shown to me, pushing me aside with the words "you are under arrest for theft". He was rude to me, did not answer any of my questions, told me to SHUT UP and put me to some kind of jail room taking away all my personal possessions from me. He says I left the store without paying for the item, I asked him to check the receipts, but he was convinced that since I stepped out of the store the first time, I've already committed a theft, no matter that I came back myself and paid for it. He was treating me like a criminal and refused to give me even some water despite seeing me being so shocked and stressed. I INSISTED ON CALLING A POLICE. When a policeman arrived he immediately saw that there was no crime involved and left the store. But the so called security guy decided to punish me (for what??) and he took away the jacket I bought, wrote some kind of a report, took my picture and gave me a note prohibiting me to trespass the store facilities for one year. No need to give me any kind of notices - I WILL NOT EVER VISIT THIS KIND OF LOW CLASS SHOP WHERE CUSTOMERS ARE BEING TREATED LIKE CRIMINALS. I find this outrageous, humiliating and very low for any store. Highly UNPROFESSIONAL, UNEDUCATED AND RUDE EMPLOYEES DAMAGE REPUTATION OF THE ENTIRE COMPANY. I want to inform hereby the management of the Bay store that I will be seeking legal advice on appropriate course of legal action with the aim of filing a lawsuit to compensate my stress and humiliation.

Department stores are so underrated these days. You can find everything and anything here when looking for last minute gifts or fashion, plus they have a great selection of home fashion and an entire floor for men's stuff. My only problem is most of the staff these days are not very professional, they shout and rush you and they yell out your personal data when there is huge line behind you. Sheesh.

They have a decent selection at this store, definitely not as great as some of the other stores though. If you are looking for a bag / purse, go to the downtown store as the Guilford selection is awful.. I keep waiting for it to get better, but I have yet to see it improve over the years.. disappointing. I don't know why they don't carry some of the more high end brands at this store.

This is a very nice, well kept, rather high end Bay. With four very large floors, it is very spacious, and has larger sections than most Bays, especially for typically underserved departments like menswear. The racks are very well maintained, as is their stock. Not the best Bay for finding sales. Their clearance stock is slim, I get the sense some of it gets sent to lower profile stores when a new season comes in. My other critique of the store is a small number of poorly lit change rooms. There's often no one nearby to let you in them if they're locked, and the lighting is a mixed bag of too dark to get a sense of colors, and too angled to take a decent picture. The staff I've dealt with have been friendly, but I often struggle to find one. The other problem at this store is returns. I'm always directed back to the department items came from to do returns. Third floor to return a shirt? They need a dedicated returns/customer-service desk on the main floor.

Consider this Bay a walk in history with a modern feel. Items are typically high-end. Tons of Bay blankets, wool jackets, Bay socks, and other high quality, recently manufactured items you would have expected out of a Bay in 1950. True, the selection is limited. However, the feel is still of a Bay that intends to provide service and quality instead of just a convenient place to buy clothing.

I had a very bad experience with this store. The associate I dealt with blatantly lied to me and wasted 30 mins of my time trying to convince me of something that was not possible. When I asked the manager to confirm what he said, she said the complete opposite of what I was being told. Then even she changed her story when she realized the associate was trying to get me to sign up for the credit card. Definitely will not shop at this particular location again.

It has been 3 years that I’m shopping at the Bay. I was always satisfied with everything. Recently, I purchased a Philips shaver online. Surprisingly, it was an open-box item (the tape was cut). Also, the shaver had been used (having some hair inside). It was very disgusting. I returned it and didn’t even get a proper apology from the customer service staff. I purchased a new one from BestBuy. I don’t suggest buying electrical items at the Bay.

Buyer beware! If you do not have your receipt and want to return an article expect to lose around 80% of the amount that you purchased. They say that their "policy" is to return the amount indicated in their system...in other words what ever amount they feel like, not the amount you paid or even the amount the the article is selling for at the present time you return it?!?! The Bay is an upscale department store, and despite that, they often have some good sales. The selection is good due to the sheer size. I've found some nice stuff here. What I've hardly ever found though, is a salesperson on the floor to offer assistance. This place is woefully understaffed, and it can be frustrating.

This location will no longer get anymore of my business. I'm currently feeling very sour and bitter. I Received a voicemail saying my couch has arrived... went down today to pick it up. Staff says I can't have it until Tuesday. This is absurd, Why leave a voicemail telling someone your product has arrived only to have them now wait 3 days. I worked in retail for over 10 years and I've never heard of such a thing. I have never call the client or customer to inform them there product has arrived if I knew they would have to wait that long to pick it up. I would only call them the day before or the same day they can pick it up. Secondly once again, i've worked retail for 10 years, I've never been aware of any retail store not having someone in the warehouse on the weekend. In the 2 Stores I worked, if a shipper and receiver was busy, then that's when the salesmen or manager would then take on the responsibility to help the customer... I tried to keep my business local, but I don't think I will be buying the rest of my furniture from this store location...

So tired of looking for special sizes that the Bay use to carry but doesn't anymore. Their assistance was none and awful. They are dishonest dealer who can't sell what they promised. We went to the department store and planning to buy a set of Zwilling cookware advertised as $199 came with bonus 4 Zwilling knifes. There was a giant advertising sign above many of varies kind of Zwilling sets stating 199 per set. However, it was confusing because there were many different sets. We than asked for assistance. The lady was rude and uninformative and she told us to grab either one of the set and we will have the deal. We then picked one up and went to the check out counter. There stood the lady who just talked to us rudely and she refused to sell us with the discount and she retrieved the big discounted sign located in the kitchen area after she found out the price in computer doesn't match the discounted advertisement. She then asked us to pay the full price of 699 or leave, she wasted us so much time trying to pick up a perfect cooking set and thought the discount was even real. Hudson bay is a dishonest dealer who can't keep their own advertisement. All they want is to sell things more expensively to make more profit. Go to Amazon for a better deal, we eventually found the same set online for the price of 139.

I have to agree with most other reviews here - customer service at this Bay store is a challenge, the Sales staff either huddles in a group speaking Farsi or there is nobody around to help. Another beef I have is when the person in front of me at the cash register talks endlessly with the sales clerk in her own language, many times they don’t even notice that that somebody else is waiting, ie. no sense of urgency whatsoever! It seems that nowadays the focus is on personal chit chat rather than serving paying customers who don’t have all day. I only go there if I really have to, other than that I prefer shopping online! I wonder if somebody from the Bay reads these reviews & hopefully improve things.

Love this location of Hudson's Bay because it's more renovated and modern than some of the other locations in the city. Product selection is excellent and we generally are always able to find what we're after. Holding back a full five stars for now because staff helpfulness can be hit and miss; one time we were looking to buy an appliance and the staff member seemed very uninterested in helping us at all. We ended up leaving and going to another location where we could get better help in finding what we wanted that day.

Customer service here is bad. One instance of many: tried to return something from my bridal shower, and got a advised/scolded by the cashier about not getting a great return price because I didn't come in to do an in person registry at the Bay. She also tried to tell me that I was silly for having an online registry, and the reason the Bay online registry wasn't comprehensive was so I could "experience the joy of registering in person!" Literally stood there for ten minutes as she delayed returning my item to tell me what I'd done wrong, until another cashier could tell I was about to lose it on this presumptive woman. Do not recommend in person here at all. Online is fantastic. Another time had to buy items at one cashier and AFTER she rang through my purchases and knowing I had a return, I was told trek to another department to do the return. So over this place. Online forever.

More often than not I leave here frustrated...why I continue to give it a chance is questionable... Was approached by staff member asking if we needed help, we said yes, she directed us to another department to have the item we wanted ordered, as they were out of stock in the color we wanted. We waited in line for 15 minutes or so, when it was our turn the guy working told us he was unable to order it for us. I told him that makes no sense, I was able to order it from home, but chose to come in to see if I could get it same day. He told us that the system wouldn't allow him to pick a different color. I think he just didn't know how. This wouldn't be all that bothersome if we hadn't literally been brought over to this cash desk for this very purpose by another employee who said it was absolutely possible. We've had many things ordered for us, clothing, perfume, small appliances...why this wasn't possible this occasion was odd...so we went home and ordered it....from another company.

Their anti-theft sensors are very sensitive. Not too sure why but when you leave even if you didn’t buy anything, it triggers their alarm. I was browsing today for gifts for friends and family, and the people in fragrance were hounding me. I love the polite "Hi how are you let me know if you need anything". But I made it clear that I was just browsing and would seek help if needed. Yes I noticed them watching me and it was not appreciated. One lady was like "oh let me spray it for you". No I am a grown woman I do not need you to spray a squirt of perfume on my wrist for me. This one lady kept talking to me while having a phone conversation and i had to look at her and say"I'm on the phone" as if it wasn't blatantly obvious with it up to my ear and me talking... I came to enjoy a nice shopping experience and I did not get that today. I'm not sure if this treatment was racially motivated of if they treat everyone like this but it was very bothersome.

Great selection of anything and everything. The items were all neatly stacked and placed enabling one to find what was needed easily in the widespread area. Slightly on the expensive side and could be waiting for a bit if you need staff assistance. Staff were very polite and helpful once I received the service.

Womens bra section was very hard to navigate. I brought my mom so she could buy some of her favourite brand and style of bra (no underwire, etc) We found the stand where this brand is located but everything was mixed up. It was very overwhelming for her, as she will get confused and anxious in these situations. It was even that way for me, so you can imagine how she was feeling. We finally found some colours, sizes and shapes, and went to get a change room. The lady told her there was no room and to go across the way to the other change rooms. Okay fine, I figured it was better than waiting in line. Well I was wrong. My mom really needed some different sizing, and there was no one there to help her. (Since we are across the hall from the actual bra section, and I was also trying on as well.) In the end we decided against spending the money because by that time, why would we want to start that process all over again and with zero assistance. We will stick to the classier boutiques where the employees actually care about their customers and the products they are selling.

I have being going the the store for a few months and I saw a coach handbag that I love very much but it was a bit too expensive so I decided to wait until the store had a sale day to buy it at a cheaper price. It was labour day sale so I went to purchase it only to find out every other handbag was on sale except the ones from coach and not even the Hudson bay Mastercard could not give me discount on the bag so I didn't buy it. I was very disappointed.

A big change happened at the Bay this year, They got cheaper! By that I mean they no longer try to get manufacturers suggested price for everything. Pretty much all the time you can get 15 to 70 percent off on a ton of different items each week , plus more with a Bay card. And then they have flash sales, themed sales, no-tax sales, clearance sales, seniors day and more ....... I can now shop for my favourite things at my favourite store all the time. And.......they have the BEST on-line experience bar-none ! I often get the items I order in less than 24 hours, always free with a minimum, often none, and if it doesn't please......take it back to any of their stores. It doesn't get much better than this! They have a great loyalty programme or air miles. There is always something going on with their credit card and now a VIP programme. No wonder this is my favourite ! They specialize in soft goods, jewellery and watches, fragrance and home items and cover them in depth. (furniture and mattresses too). I like it.......a lot.

Whether buying furniture, appliances, shoes, clothing or kitchen items, we have always been happy with the selection of products at The Bay. Here on Vancouver Island, The Bay is one of the few places to go to find household items. Their sales are frequent which when combined with points earned from previous purchases, makes shopping there affordable for high quality. The employees at the Nanaimo store are very friendly and helpful.

I am always greeted and asked if I need any assistance when I go in to browse/shop. I usually like to look things over/hunt out what I have in mind without a lot of interruptions and they never have a problem with it. Alternatively though there are times where I need assistance, and they're always willing to help. Many times I've gone in with questions and staff will take the time to sit me down and make sure I'm comfortable using a product that I'm about to purchase.

The service counter in the lady’s department has the rudest women working there. I have never been treated so poorly at a store trying to do a refund for a product I didn’t like. After I was told from the cosmetic counter I am able to do a refund, they sent me to the service counter due to lack of staff. The service counter simply handed me a gift card and basically told me to get lost. I told them I was told I can get a refund because I am not satisfied with the product and she yelled for the next customer to come take my spot. I will go out of my way to never shop here again, and inform everyone I know to do the same. Many other places have the same product with polite service to go along with it.

I was at the Bay last night. Again this is another store that does not sell you a paper bag with your purchase. I am all for stopping the use of plastic bags in Surrey but give some customer services. The only bag they had cost $2.00 When I purchase something I want to feel proud and walk out with it in a paper bag. The Staff were awesome.

I will not be shopping at another Hudson's Bay again. Went in to buy shape wear for my upcoming engagement photos and when I asked for help after struggling to find anything in my size and shape, no Hudson Bay employee was willing to step up. It felt like I was inconveniencing the Hudson Bay employees and was told by a greeter that they didn't have enough bodies for someone to help me in person. When I walked up to cash, two ladies were closing the tills with 25 min left until close. Not impressed. Thankfully a rep from Hollister stayed with me until a manager FINALLY went through sizing with me in the underwear section, only to learn that Hudson Bay does not offer much in the way of plus sizing for women. I left frustrated, embarrassed and empty-handed when I was prepared to spend.

love this location very clean. Only loses a star on it's hard to track down a place to pay, i actually put items back before and left cause no one is around working on cash. This is a busy place! have staff on cash ready to take payment. Just a heads up go on weekends, it's the only time you will find a hidden gem at reasonable price.

Buyer beware. Apparently the store changed their return policy to within 30 days last fall. The clerk helpfully pointed this out to me written in a disclaimer of tiny font on the back of the receipt. If you use THEIR credit card magically they accept return of same merchandise for 90 days. Guess I won't be doing any advance or sale shopping there anymore!!

We have always enjoyed shopping at the Bay downtown and wonder why young people don't shop there more. They carry a wide variety of major labels and there is always a sale with some great prices. However yesterday I was shocked to seen a gentlemen with his wife and a full grown samoyed dog. There they were shopping the aisles in the ladies wear and their huge dog rubbing against the clothing. If this do had fleas or ticks they could easily jump and make a dress or slacks their new home. This dog did not carry an id as a seeing eye or compassionate dog. Why do people believe it's okay to bring such a huge dog in a public shopping area ?

If you get their points card and or have their credit card u get lots of points which turn in to free stuff. And the quality is always good or kidney back with out any questions. I even seen people wear their stuff and then return it. It's not right but just saying the store is easy going

I am so disappointed with my first and last experiene ordering a gift for my wife Susan. I spent alot of time trying to find out where i could purchase this perfume and was told the Bay had 5 in stock. When I went to the store in a neighboring city I was told it would have to be ordered in and it would take 2-5 days to come in. I had paid the full $118.00 for this perfume and waited. Her birthday came and went and Christmas came and went with no perfume and no information to the whereabouts of it. I called today to see what the status of this order was (3 weeks later) only to be told that the store had cancelled my order without letting me know!!!!! This is totally unacceptable and frustrating for me as a consumer. Very disappointed that there was no effort made to contact me and that there is no number I can call to issue my concern. I spent $310 on product and asked if they had a perfume sample of the Mademoiselle that I purchased to bring in my carry on..response was...The Bay cosmetic counters in Victoria no longer are allowed to give out samples..I asked no samples of any sort..correct NONE. I will return my other items besides the perfume because Sephora doesn't sell it and go shop at Sephora where they are generous with samples. (Samples are usually what lure me to buy a new product)

Ordered 2 items online and they both arrived damaged. I sent an email to their customer service department, and after going back and forth a few times they said their escalations team was going to be in touch. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything. All of my follow up emails are being ignored as well. Apparently selling damaged products and disappearing afterwards is ok in their books. If you shopping online, save yourself the headache and shop somewhere else.

She was both very polite and helpful with my purchases, explaining to me the discounts on Bay Days that could be eligible for refund even if purchased on another day. I had no idea and low and behold returned my receipt today for a fantastic refund on my purchases. You need to come prepared to spend some time here. To be honest, most of the stuff here is out of my price range, but if I take time to look around I usually find some good deals. There are a lot of brand-name items here! I wish the ladies' swimwear section was bigger. The clearance racks, which are in the aisles, can have good deals. If you are looking for deals, check out every rack that's in the middle of the aisles. That's where the deals are!

But DO NOT buy any electronic items as they do not guarantee the quality of what they sell. I had an item which was a gift from my registry broken with only 7 months of use and the answer I got from them was literally “our job is to place the order and to ship to your house”. So you might as well get the products for half price at Canadian tire or Walmart where they actually guarantee the quality of what they sell! Horrible customer service over the phone. If you’re a bride, I do not recommend their registry services.
