This store was my first experience at Plato's Closet. There is a lot of selection and a lot of staff working. They were fairly accommodating and even held on to my selection when I had to run outside quickly to pickup my son from childcare, then come back to pay for everything. I wouldn't say it's a as polished of a customer-focused shopping experience as sister-company Style Encore, but given the target demographic of Platos (teenager to late 20s) and the overall lower prices and especially the clearance deals, it's a fair trade. I have found a lot of great deals (Lululemon on 70% clearance is a dream!) and the text notifications are handy. Anytime I'm in Burlington I would definitely stop in, I like this branch selection more than the Hamilton one.

I will never go here again. I called first, described my items, and they said they would interested. I brought a cart and bag full of brand name, perfect condition clothing. First, they mixed up my bag with someone else. So stand and watch your stuff. They then later decided to buy a couple of club Monaco items from the early 2000 s . They passed on a white, perfect condition roxy sweater from last year, a bunch of great condition banana republic, gap, guess, and element, and a 300 dollar pair of pants I bought as my goal pants, which I never fit into. When I got this stuff back, I was so frustrated after a long journey there, 1.5 hours there and expected back. it wasn't until they long journey home I realized.. THEY STOLE THE SNAKE SKIN BOOTS! THEY DID NOT RETURN THEM WITH THE THINGS THEY PASSED ON, AND THEY DID NOT PAY ME FOR THEM. BE CAREFUL!!

I have been going to Plato's Closet since it opened. I have sold my clothing to them on multiple occasions and I would say about 80% of my closet has been purchased there. I have never once dealt with a rude employee in fact, they're incredibly cheerful and polite and are always looking and willing to help in whatever way they can. I have never left disappointed with the items they have sent back to me. The reasons why they are passing on items are always made clear and are understandable. I also never leave empty handed. I always find the best brands and best styles for a fraction of the cost. My most memorable find was a BCBG dress with the tags still attached. The dress was originally over $400.00 I used my stamp card (a customer loyalty card, make sure to ask for one) received 20% off, and paid $16.00!!!! I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out.

I found the employees to be sullen and not very helpful. I went in with barely used Parasuco/555Soul/Guess/TNA clothing and they didn't buy a single thing saying they weren't what they were looking for.....yet there were well-worn cheap clothing on the racks from Old Navy/Walmart! I'm going to sell my clothes on my own online instead - so much easier and saves you the rudeness

I live 5 minutes from the oakville location and will ALWAYS drive the extra 20 to this location. Great selection of clothing, amazing staff, always super friendly and kind! Such a contrast to the oakville location....definitely worth the drive!

Originally, I had a decent opinion of my first time selling with Platos. The sales associates were pleasant enough, though the store was a bit cluttered. That was before I returned home and looked through the bag of clothing they didn't buy. Despite showing me a box with two pairs of Garage jeans, one flannel, and a shirt, they also took a pair of MINT CONDITION lululemon leggings, a tank top, a velvet shirt, and another flannel. I was given $23. Transparency is key, Plato's. Start telling customers EXACTLY what you are purchasing. I would never had agreed to the sale if I knew what I was selling. Will not be returning to this location to sell or to buy.

I always find something I love, actually I always find too much! Ha ha Ha! Great quality, brand names, lots of selection, incredible prices, and they even have sour keys at the register! Nice touch! My only complaint would be when the staff are in the aisles restocking, they don't care enough to move which makes shopping difficult. That's the only reason they got four stars and not five.

Good finds, reasonable prices and fair assessment of money back for some of your clothes. They generally don't take men's dress shirts and tend to buy more trendy and youthful clothing so don't be surprised if a lot of your clothes are rejected if your style is either out of date up not in their mainstream. There are clothing donation boxes nearby so donate what's left.

I am a very frequent Plato's shopper. I've been to this location and the one in Oakville,and hands down this is the better of the two. 1) They are very fair in what they buy and don't buy- I would say they have bought 60-70% of the item's I have brought in to them. The Oakville location is much much less inclined to buy. 2) Huge selection and pricing is more fair in this location as well, the same Lululemon pants will somehow cost you more in the Oakville location. 3) customer service here is great, attentive and friendly. Unlike the Oakville location where staff is full of rude and unhelpful teenagers who need much more training in customer service. Do yourself a favour and make the trip to the Burlington Plato's Closet!

All I can say is that the staff is VERY RUDE and are always looking for a argument!! It is run by teenagers who have no clue what they are doing!! My daughter took in some designer clothes that she got as gifts (no receipts, plus too BIG, never worn, tags attached) About $300.00-$500.00 worth the staff member offered her $2.00 We LEFT meanwhile a bunch of kids came in the store (who have been picked up by security at the Burlington and Mapleview Malls) "Hi we got some bags of **@@** for you to sell" Me being me I stuck around to see what would happen!! Girl opened the bags looked in the bags and threw them under the counter handed these kids CASH!!

The selection is always great. The change room staff are generally efficient and cashing out, the staff were friendly. However, some of the staff (multiple times) were dressed like they had just rolled out of bed while others look like they had just been out all night, partying. In my opinion, how the staff dress reflects the store's image. They also seem to like discussing tonight's plans with each other while I'm cashing out or trying on clothes. Unimpressed by the lack of professionalism by these employees.

I have shopped here before in store and the experience was just average, nothing special. However, in this review I will describe an experience I had dealing with the store via Instagram. There was an item that was put on the store’s Instagram page to put on hold. I had asked to put the item on hold for myself under my Instagram name. They had confirmed that it was on hold for me under my Instagram name for a period of time. I then called the store before the deadline to check to see if my item was still available so I could go to the store and purchase it. The girl who answered the phone had asked me for my Instagram name and asked me to wait a bit while she looked for the item. She had then gotten back to me within like two minutes saying that she could not locate the item. She took my name and number and said she would contact me when the item was found. That never happened. I then contacted the store the next day to see if the item was in fact found given what had happened the day before. The girl on the other end had said that she was not able to locate the item. I have been asked to speak to the manager. She had indicated that she was the manager. I had told her that I found this whole Instagram hold process very frustrating and ineffective. I had also told her that this customer service experience was very unprofessional and that I feel that the associates and the people working at the store did not handle the process or the handling of the hold items that I had requested appropriately. She had her then apologized and indicated that that my feedback was much appreciated and that they would stop this process via Instagram and would revert to putting things back on hold via telephone. So, all in all buyer beware, please do not put things on hold via Instagram from this plato’s location, as you will have a very disappointing and frustrating experience.

I've had good and bad experiences at this location. They don't have much in my size so I'm not able to buy alot there and their buying prices are pretty low so don't expect to get a lot of money for your barely worn clothes and designer bags

I've worked at a Plato's before as a top buyer and I went in knowing what to expect. I brought in a bunch of brand new items with tags and a few things that don't fit anymore. I expected to part with quite a lot of the stuff I brought in. Instead I felt ripped off and let down. It was a pretty disappointing experience being told that I could get one dollar for my Aritzia's hat and one Joie' sweater... The girl who cashed me out was super great but whoever did my buy, I was pretty disappointed. It honestly all depends on the buyer who goes through your stuff. Make sure you get a print out of what you are selling! Overall, I would not recommend selling clothing here.

People there are usually nice. My problem is that when I’ve tried selling some of my products some may have very minor imperfections on them and they don’t take them. But when I go shopping through their clothes I find clothes that have worse imperfections than my clothing ever will not to mention they claim they want updated in style clothing but found stuff in there that’s outdated that someone probably won’t ever buy.... Seems like the coworkers are trying to make money for their friends or something... lol....

My wife and I both love shopping at Platos. It's actually the best. I especially enjoy hunting for a bargain, and this place usually surprises me. GUYS, bring in your old clothes and get cash for them. We need to stop their guys section from shrinking! (The only thing I would suggest is putting the LG/XL shirts on the TOP RACK. Us tall guys have a really hard time searching through the bottom rack of shirts and my back hurts every time I walk out of there.)

Not personally a fan, i find the prices expensive and selection very limited. You’re better off finding/waiting for brand names to go on sale directly at their stores/outlets as you’ll be able to purchase a lot more for your buck.. but maybe if you’re looking last minute or find something discounted that you like it could be of use

I love this store.I always find the best lulu lemon and Tna clothing. The staff is very friendly and always lets me know about sales coming up or happening at that time. If you love expensive brands but don't want to pay retail prices i would definitely check it out.

Staff at this location is super friendly, they always greet you right as you come in the door. They had free refreshments when I was last in last. I find the buying program a little inconsistent. I’ve taken 2 bags of clothing in at different times one time they took everything expect 1 or 2 items and gave me $60 then the next time they only took 4 items and gave me $15. Both bags were almost identical style and quality wise.

Very friendly staff! Selling experience: Brought in a myriad of garments in brands ranging from aritzia (tna, wilfred & talula, community), Guess, Rachel Roy, BCBGeneration, PINK, H&M, etc, that filled a large plastic storage bin. Sales clerk politely explained store policy & said I could come back in 15-20 min after they assessed my items. I was offered $33 for approximately 7-8 items, none of which I had anticipated being "big sellers"--they were all cheap brands while my more "treasured" items were not selected. I knew i could some items for more on kijiji (i.e. they offered me <$2 for a pair of BDG Urban Outfitters leggings) but decided to take the $33 because i wouldnt have to put in any effort into meeting kijiji clients. I was a bit disappointed I didnt unload more stuff, but I had anticipated this and overall I was satisfied with the $33. Buying experience: Merchandise is definitely geared to a "junior" demographic (which explains why they passed on purchasing my Wilfred/bcbg/rachel roy/etc). Not many items interested me, and despite their claim to only accept "like-new merchandise purchased within the past year", the majority of items I saw definitely did not fit this description. Maybe they have been sitting in the store for a very long time, but I honestly saw ONE tna sweater I might have bought if i wasnt so underwhelmed by the remaining lack-luster stock & "dingy"/thrift store environment. The sweater was $30, which is not an astounding price, but one i would have considered paying. Overall, I found some price points surprisingly low, while others were "meh". Wouldn't shop here regularly, but would consider bringing other items to potentially sell if the store wasnt located so far from my home. Not disappointed with my visit, glad I checked it out and now understand what Plato's Closet is all about.

unlike meghan my experience was great, not "sullen" at all . if you listen to why they pass on your items it makes total sense to me. They are looking for TEEN items. Yes i had brand new jeans they passed on but they were flare which isn't in right now (why i am getting rid of them) so understandable. New stuff i had turned out to have a little mark on it which i hadn't noticed before. I don't think they intentionally buy crappy stuff for the floor so i don't take offence unlike some people commenting, they are human you know :) anyways, would definitely go back, got great money for my stuff!

I have been there twice now and it has been bad both times the store is unorganized like terrible it looks junky and dated value village looks nicer and more organized! The sizes weren't where the awful sign system in place said they would be and it was unclear to me the layout I circled the store 3 times and felt confused as to why pants weren't one area shirts another etc they had shirts in the "sweaters" and a whole back wall of shirts which made no sense and in the "light jackets " was mostly sweaters all sized wrong again..... shoes don't even get me started on a size 9/ 10 and had to venture to the men's section to find them and they weren't together.. I also tried to sell 2 brand new pairs of dressy shoes and they told me they don't really buy that size as it's not popular.... literally 70 percent of my female friends have that shoe size I was almost offended.... never going back

Brought in a huge box of clothes and you guys took nothing even though there is american eagle, PINK, garage, etc, all expensive clothing that people would love, and ALL OF IT IS IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION. you guys have 16 year olds looking through these clothes and basing it off of if they would wear it or not, not if OTHER people would wear it, they just think about themselves. My clothes have no rips, no stains, nothing, a lot are barley worn, and I have come into your store on multiple occasions and do you know what i see???? I see hundreds of your clothing that is ripped and stained and basically not wearable but you wont take clothes that are in perfect conditon? Is that too much to pay someone because they have good clothes or something? I thought that's what you guys do? Give good deals for clothes that are not RUINED and stuff that people would wear, cause that's WHAT I HAVE, BETTER THAN WHAT YOHR OWN STORE HAS!!! MAYBE GET RID OF ALL YOUR IMMATURE 15 TO 18 YEAR OLDS BECAUSE THEY HAVE ABSOLUTLEY NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!! I am disgusted with your store.

Plato's Closet is a good store to go to when you have time to go through racks of gently used clothing. They carry everything from jeans to dresses, shoes and purses. You can also bring women's and men's clothing items and they'll go through them and you'll receive $$. All in all a good way to spend some time.

Not worth the effort. Normally this location has great service, friendly greeting at door. But they're men selection has gone downhill and the "exchange" aspect is so not worth your time or energy. I collected at least 2 bags worth of clothing from around home, brought it to them expecting some credit. All you get is a "sorry but no thanks...". I mean at least provide a coupon or credit, like Value Village. Not worth the energy of dropping by with my items just to have to take it back and dump at a donation bin. Won't be back, review your policies people don't have time to waste.

I’m late making this reply but it needs to be said. The customer service at this location is unbelievable, quite so that it took me back. I left that location and have been driving from Burlington to attend another location instead! I bought a pair of jeans and unfortunately they didn’t fit as nicely as I would have hoped. With going on a vacation, life, school, and having a six year old, I was 2 (2!!) days late to return, understanding there return policy I knew I wouldn’t get a refund but was hoping I could exchange for something else. I mean the money is going back to their store after all, No loss for them as the jeans I brought back were very on trend and would have no problem reselling. With a rude response from the store employee I asked to speak to the manger. She came over and just kept repeating no, no, nope, and then smirked and said “ what do you want me to do”. Receipt on the pants still, with receipt in hand. I looked at her and said explained I’ve spent a lot of money here and up at the co owned store once upon a child, and would appreciate some willingness to work with me here. She again said no! I said I’m sorry but I’ll never return to this store. She laughed and walked away! Another employee came back and said we can buy them back from you, I said how much she said 2.90$. I then laughed and walked away my self. My god I was calm, professional and polite the whole time. I’ve spent roughly 200-300.00 on new spring/summer clothes at another location that they have lost out on. I now even hesitate to attend the once upon a child as well. If a store owner can’t hire a manger who can be the voice of good costumer service and lead by example for her employees watching, why would I support that business?! Sorry this experience had to happen. Still have these jeans. Sitting there with tag and receipt. ( sigh )

**Everytime I post a review the owner takes it down.** I would not suggest this store to anyone. On top of the awful conditions they sell their clothing in, the staff aren't helpful, usually standing behind the counter and chatting. I'm rarely greeted when I enter the store and feel like I'm being watched by employees as I shop as if I were to steal something. Selling clothes is q while other story. Very picky which is funny considering the condition most of their clothing is in and pay a fraction of what other stores pay. I sell to Oakville and they actually give me a decent amount of money. Both of the owners (Chris and Karen) are stuck up and straight up rude. To employees especially. Very bossy and micro managing every move. It's a shame that a store with a concept as awesome as this can be so disorganized and mismanaged.

Very unhappy with this store currently. I dropped some things off to sell and was told to browse while they sort and that it should only be about 20 minutes. This is a day when I had an extended lunch of about 2 hours (an extremely rare occasion) so I decided to run some errands. I browsed, found 1 or 2 things I might like. 45 minutes later I put those things back and walked out. I am now back at work 2 hours later and on the account sign in they still have not even begun sorting. The store wasn't even busy!! Complete waste of my day. Now to wait and see if they even take anything I brought in.

I always start at Plato's if I need new clothes as it always has a fairly good selection and the prices are always great. I've found a few pricey name brand items for extremely good prices such as shoes. I wear out shoes quick so can never justify buying expensive shoes but finding those same expensive shoes for $20 is amazing!

Employees were extremely rude, and not helpful. Screaming at eachother across the store and talking about personal life seemed more important to them then helping customers in line. I brought a big bag of brand new black dresses and sweaters as well as a couple pairs of brand new shoes. They stated they would not resell, and the clothes had wear which is funny when they had tags on them. As I got my bag back they were in the order I put them originally in and were folded ad I folded them earlier..... Clearly again talking is more important then doing their job of going through clothes. Extremely disappointed and frustrated as there's faded, ripped and stained clothes on the racks and disgusting shoes. I will never shop here again nor recommend the store.

They have cute stuff I think prices on sum stuff is a bit to much... Anyways I took 2 big garbage. Bags of clean clothing no holes in great condition. And stuff that looks similar. To what they. Sell and they bought two things from me I think I got $7 or $8bucks I can't remember. It was in the early. Summer was very disappointing. Lol cuz I dragged the heavy bags and kids. There. Cuz they advertised they buy good quality. Clothing lol they told me it was to fancy. My stuff to take it to the other location and try I said no thanks lol it looks like ur stuff lol will. Just donate to goodwill. Then will never sell to this store again. I rather donate to goodwill. Get a $10 discount coupon. Or value. Village . they. Give a discount. Card!

A must stop for thrifters who want to buy and sell. Quality of clothes is somewhat good for the price, but it is a higher price than most thrift stores due to the selective nature. You do not get much money for the clothing you sell, but it is worth bringing in a bag anyway if you want to try your luck!

Their clothes are over priced and I’m awful condition, I used to go in all of the time and find stuff but haven’t found anything good lately. Staff doesn’t even acknowledge you and make it seems like a bother to help you out. You can hear them chatting about personal things which is extremely unprofessional. Doesn’t look like there is a dress code, some people dress like they just woke up and skme look like they’re going to a club, not a good way to promote a buisness. And make sure you ask for a print out if you buy things, they price things too low so you’ll get paid next to nothing for your stuff. All around a negative experience, would not reccomend to anyone. Will not return.

This place was great! There was sale today with 29% off all purchases over $29. I found many amazing deals. The staff were amazing. Everyone was extremely helpful, positive and very patient. They did such an amazing job.

very helpful staff went above and beyond for me, staff even tried on a sweater for my son as he was not with me and was about his size. all were very helpful looking around for certain sweaters i was looking for i would recommend to anyone who loves to shop to check out this place. Although they did have a few items that i didn't think belonged there due to tears or holes in some of the clothing or even some low end brands but all in all great place

They were so sweet, I was looking for bikini tops and they went out of there way to go get me a bin to look through. And one of the employees told me they got new bikinis and dug threw it another bin for me and found me some more, they were really awesome. Not to mention I got 13 items for $127.

I bring legit sports jerseys in and they say they don’t want them yet they have garbage knockoffs hanging on the racks for sale. These people don’t know what they are even looking at half the time. Don’t waste your time.

Love all platoes closets. It’s a hit and miss, but it’s usually like that at gently used clothing stores. The store could use an update/renovation though. Always friendly staff

I'm pretty sure this is the biggest Plato's I have ever been to! I liked the selection available for women and my boyfriend appreciated how there were more than the usual 2-3 racks in the men's section. Would definitely recommend if you're thrifting in the Burlington/Hamilton area!
